ASUS dual NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 V2 OC edition 12GB GDDR6 gaming graphics card review

Design

The card size is 200 mm in length, 123 mm in width, 38 mm in thickness, and the auxiliary power connector is 8pin x 1.. The VGA cooler is equipped with 2 slots and has two Axial-tech fans.

Ports

Asus’ potrayal of the GeForce RTX 3060 also lands with one HDMI 2.1 port and three DisplayPort 1.4a outputs for video outputs. The Dual GeForce RTX 3060 OC Edition is more than happy with just one 8-pin PCIe power connector.

Memory

The Dual GeForce RTX 3060 OC Edition is armed with 3,584 CUDA cores, 112 Tensor cores and 28 RT cores. The graphics card’s 12GB of GDDR6 memory, which is clocked at 15 Gbps, sits comfortably on a 192-bit memory interface.

Ray tracing

For the ray tracing performance, 1080P is pretty much the highest I would recommend for the RTX 3060. If you’re really pushing it for 1440P, you might be able to pull through with games that have DLSS 2.0 implemented, but 4K is definitely out of the question. Things might be a little different in the future if more game developers are willing to adopt DLSS for their upcoming games, especially DLSS 2.0 which offers a lot more flexibility on the presets as compared to the first-gen DLSS.

Temperature

We have both the ROG Strix RTX 3060 OC Edition and Manli RTX 3060 gone through the same tests with FurMark stress test and long hours gaming session test t

Cooling

ASUS dual NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 V2 OC edition 12GB GDDR6 gaming graphics card has 10 times flatter to improve heat dissipation. On this particular model, a total of five heatpipes transfer the heat to the heatsink. Subsequently, a pair of Asus’ Axial-tech cooling fans take care of getting rid of the heat.

Power consumption

For the power requirement, the recommended power supply as stated on the official product page is at a surprising 750W but the card will run just fine on a decent 650W power supply. Unlike the RTX 30 series Founders Edition cards that come with the new but unconventional 12-pin PCIe power socket, the ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3060 OC Edition is still equipped with the more common 8-pin PCIe power socket that many of us are familiar with.

REASONS TO AVOID

-Moderate ray tracing performance-Slower than the 3080 at 4K

As a red team alternative to Nvidia’s high-end graphics cards, there have been few finer than the RX 6800 XT. A highly competitive card that comes so close to its rival, with a nominal performance differential to the RTX 3080, is truly an enthusiast card worth consideration for any PC gamer with 4K in their sights.

It’s a tough call between it and the RTX 3080, but the latter pips AMD to the post with the final touches à la RTX. The RX 6800 XT is $50 cheaper, delivers high 4K performance and a hefty VRAM increase over the RTX 3080. However, it’s easy to argue that an extra $50 dropped on the RTX 3080 is money well spent: a small price to pay for greater 4K performance, much-improved ray tracing, and DLSS. All are available today and with two year’s worth of developer support in the bank. That said, AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution is gaining momentum among developers, and offers solid upscaling worth enabling in supported games.

Yet we’re still big fans of what AMD has managed to accomplish with the RX 6800 XT, a return to form for the Radeon Technology Group that injects some much-needed competition into the GPU market and offers a worthy red team alternative for any high-end gaming PC build.
