Design

The new Wireless Charging Case features a matte-finished hinge versus a mirror-finished hinge on the wired Charging Case, an LED charging status indicator that’s been moved from the inside of the case to the front of the case, and a setup button on the rear that’s been placed a few millimeters higher.

Size

The charging case is pocket sized and perfect for being on the go. The 1.8-by-0.9-by-2.1-inch (HWD) wireless charging case is one of the more elegantly designed cases, with a flip-top lid and a glossy white contour that matches the earpieces.

LED indicator

When the back of the case rests on a charging pad, the front LED lights up orange to indicate it’s charging. If you don’t have a wireless charger, the case also supports wired charging with the included Lightning cable.

When you flip the case open, an LED lights up green to tell you that the docked earpieces are fully charged, or orange if they’re only partially charged. When the earpieces are out of the case, these colors refer to the state of the case’s internal charge.

Qi Charging ability

The wireless charging case variants have Qi charging built in. So you can place the AirPods on almost any wireless charger to begin getting power. It’s not fast charging and won’t be as fast as a wired connection, but it’s a bonus.

Charging time

Charging the case wirelessly is slow — Apple tells the case charges at 5 watts, which is slower than the iPhone is capable of, and it can take up to three and a half hours to fully tank up the case wirelessly, compared to the roughly two hours it takes over the Lightning cable.

Apple wireless charging case for AirPods Pros – extends Battery life

The battery life for listening to music or audio remains at five hours, which, while no longer the longest battery life you can get in a truly wireless headphone, is still better than average and very good. The charging case extends that to up to 24 hours; a 15-minute charge will provide three hours of listening or two hours of call time.

The AirPods themselves pack around five hours of listening time on a full charge, and the case can be used to recharge them on the go. While Apple doesn’t specify the battery inside, the earbuds and case as a whole should provide around 24 hours of listening time. This is pretty much on par with what I found during my testing.

H1 wireless chip

Apple’s new H1 chip, the successor to the W1 wireless chip found in the original AirPods, brings performance efficiencies, quicker connect times, and additional talk time. But the H1 chip’s biggest contribution to the new AirPods is hands-free, voice-activated Hey Siri.

With voice-activated Siri you can say things like Hey Siri

  • What’s the weather like tomorrow
  • When do the Warriors play next
  • Call my wife
  • Turn up the volume
  • Play my summer 2K19 playlist

Siri Voice

Siri’s voice with the AirPods 2 sounds noticeably better; it’s more crisp, and more clear, which makes it more pleasant to listen to.

Talk time

A mere 15 minute charge yields two hours of talk time, the same amount of talk time derived on the last-generation AirPods when fully charged. Thanks to the more efficient H1 wireless chip, AirPods 2 (2019) users will enjoy 50% more talk time, for a total of three hours on a full charge.

Faster connection time for phone calls

Apple notes that the new AirPods gain a 1.5x faster connection time for phone calls.

Low latency

Latency is a given for any wireless connection, whether it’s Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, etc. While you can’t fully eliminate latency, you can try to limit it as much as possible. That’s what Apple’s done with its new Bluetooth 5.0-enabled AirPods. The AirPods 2 feature 30% less latency when gaming, so that the sound in your ears more closely matches what you see on the screen.

Spatial audio

The AirPods (3rd generation) is the first set of open-type earbuds from Apple that supports spatial audio, which was once exclusive to the AirPods Pro and AirPods Max, along with a number of hardware changes. It has the same open ear approach as the first and second-generation models, but now it features a contoured design to fit better in more ears. The third-generation AirPods also bring Adaptive EQ, which debuted in the AirPods Pro and accounts for the AirPods’ poor fit.

Switching among devices

A 2020 upgrade also brought a an auto-switching feature that means the AirPods can now “magically switch over between devices”, detecting automatically which device you are using – handy if you’re already embedded into the Apple ecosystem.

Performance review (Best price) for Apple AirPods Pro with wireless charging case

This Apple Charging Case works very well. It is easy to use. No wires that stick out and call attention or to get hung up. The charging case is also very convenient. It”s no bigger than a car key, and does not have to be plugged in to charge the pods.

If you have the first generation, then your charging case can only charge via Lightning connector. So plugging in any old Lightning cable from Apple will get the job done. If you have the second generation charging case then you can also charge wirelessly with any Qi-compatible charger. This just means that while the charging pad needs to be plugged into an outlet, you can just place the AirPods case onto the pad in order to charge it up without plugging in the case. Pretty neat.

One thing worth mentioning is that if you have the original AirPods, you don’t need to completely replace your earbuds in order to get wireless charging. Instead, you can just purchase the wireless charging case without the AirPods separately for about $69.

Apple AirPods Pro with wireless charging case customer review

If you own a wireless charger, these are perfect!

I got these as a Christmas gift, and these are the best headphones I’ve ever had in my entire life! I also got 2 wireless chargers for Christmas, and when I had them both open, the first thing I did was try them out, and they worked like they were from the future. Also, if you happen to have an Android, or other non – Apple device, you can still use these by holding down the button on the back of the wireless charging case until the LED in the front starts to blink white. I figured this out by pairing them to my Windows 10 Home laptop, and they successfully connected! So basically you can pair them to ANY device as long as it has Bluetooth! Finally, infrequently they may stop playing sound in one, but there is still a way to fix it, and how to do that is to hold down the button behind the wireless charging case until it blinks orange. I’ll leave some images below to show you what you get when you buy these, but Apple certainly didn’t let me down. Thanks Apple! 9 Awesome Features: 1. Pop up pairing thanks to the H1 chip 2. Ability to track your battery life 3. 5 hours of battery life in one charge 4. More than 24 hours of battery life with the wireless charging case 5. Pairs to non – Apple devices by using Bluetooth 6. Ability to charge with a wireless QI charger. 7. Beautiful LED light in the front of the wireless charging case 8. Knows when they’re in your ear or not. 9. Charges really fast by a wireless QI chargers. 1 Way to Improve: 1. Infrequently, one does not play sound and must be reset.
