Design
The devices Linksys Velop Pro 7, which come in white, are similar right out of the box and are configured during installation as both routers and nodes. Compared to the Orbi RBE970 devices, they are shorter, slimmer, and easier to conceal at 8.7 x 3.7 x 3.7 inches.

LED indicator

WiFi chip

The test system provided 453.3Mbps of throughput when it was placed 50 feet away from the Velop Pro 7 router. This was slightly less than the 495.1Mbps of the Orbi RBE973, but three times more data than the 146.9Mbps of the eero Max 7. When compared to the TP-Link Deco BE85’s 790.4Mbps, all three performed second best.
With most routers lagging behind around 75 feet, the Velop Pro 7 managed to maintain its speed at 170.0 Mbps. Along with the Deco BE85 (179.2Mbps) and Orbi RBE973 (174.8Mbps), this places it in the top spot. It transported about 20% more data than the 132.7Mbps of the eero Max 7.
The Velop Pro 7 ranked last among Wi-Fi 7 mesh routers with a throughput of 12.1 Mbps based on the final distance measurement of 90 feet. Its 95-foot range matched that of the Orbi RBE973, and it managed to miss a few spots in my 3,500-square-foot house.
Linksys Velop Pro 7 WiFi Mesh System alternate
Amazon eero Max 7 could be the best alternate of Linksys Velop Pro 7. Since the firm doesn’t really produce any traditional Wi-Fi routers, the eero Max 7 is Amazon’s first Wi-Fi 7 router and, like other eero devices, it’s a mesh Wi-Fi system.
It costs $1,700 for a three-pack or $1,140 for a two-pack, which is a little more than the Deco BE85. For $600, eero does provide single unit add-ons if you decide to expand your mesh network afterwards.
At a distance of fifteen feet, the eero Max 7 tested to a maximum speed of 1.78 Gbps. The speeds dropped significantly as one moved farther away from the router, reaching a meager 16.8 Mbps at 90 feet and 146 Mbps at 50 feet. At a distance of 25 feet from the router, the eero Max 7 performed admirably in shattering through a wall at a speed of 789.1 Mbps.
Although eero’s previous mesh Wi-Fi systems, such as the eero Pro 6E, had a puck-shaped appearance, this time the business has taken a slightly different approach by choosing a design that is more in line with the Orbi RBKE963.
This does provide room for more connections on the back of the eero Max 7; two 10 gigabit Ethernet ports and two 2.5 gigabit Ethernet ports are located there.
However, there isn’t a USB connector for network data exchange. Even while the eero Max 7’s download speeds were not as fast at intermediate and long ranges, the eero app makes setting up this mesh Wi-fi system incredibly simple.
