What is the difference – Minisforum UM790 Pro vs Beelink GTR7 Pro?

Design

For the GTR7 and GTR7 Pro, the Beelink GTR7 Pro employs a height of 1.92 inches, or roughly 48.77mm. In contrast, the GTR5 stands about 1.5 inches (or 39mm) tall. The GTR6 has a diameter of 1.69 inches, or 42.93 mm.The footprint of MINISFORUM is a mere 13 x 12.6 cm.Everything you need to use a VESA mount to connect the 666-gram, heavy tiny PC to a monitor is included in the package.

Ports

The displayport connectors on the GTR7 are considerably more dependable and adaptable, thus I appreciate that it has both an HDMI and a DisplayPort. The front of the device features two USB-4 ports (one of which supports Thunderbolt) and two Type-A ports.

With two HDMI connections on the back, the Minisforum Venus Series UM790 Pro has little trouble connecting multiple monitors. Although I think the UM790’s USB port arrangement is superior, I find it annoying that the monitor wires protrude from the front.

Processor

The AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS is the Minisforum Venus Series UM790 Pro’s main processor. Its 16 threads and 8 cores make it suitable for gaming.

Memory & storage

The GTR7 Pro features two slots that hold two Crucial DDR5 5600 16GB modules (306ZG10465) and one generic but functional Kingston NVMe SSD. The MNISFORUM UM790 has 512 GB of total storage and 16 GB of DDR5 RAM. With this gadget, Minisforum has experimented a little bit with storage devices; specifically, it is equipped with two 256 GB SSDs in a RAID 0 array (Redundant Array of Independent Discs).

Thermal and fan noise

Beelink GTR7

When the system was idle, we saw an impact of less than 1 dBa in our 34 dBa noise floor studio. Utilising 96W under load, we observed that the system increased noise to approximately 39–40 dBA. Compared to the 45–46.5 dBa we observed on the GTR7 non-Pro, this was lower.

Minisforum

The AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS has a dependable cooling system as well; in our Prime95 stress test, it peaked at 84.6 °C. The 65 watts that the SoC is capable of using were likewise fully utilised. The SoC consumed an average of 57 watts of electricity overall. We measured a very low value of 31.7 dB(A) in idle mode, which averaged out to 32.8 dB(A) under average load. We observed a maximum value of 35.2 dB(A) during the stress test, indicating that the little PC operates silently.

Consumer reviews – Minisforum UM790 Pro vs Beelink GTR7 Pro

Great. I tried Crucial Ram—> work great Crucial ram 5600 CL46 48gb kind of slow. Then I decided to switch to Kingston 5600 CL40 64gb, which is on sale. Very Smooth. My memory is WD SN850X 2tb, very fast read at 7400 Mb/s for sequential. Temperature is abour 50 C for CPU. I added Noctua fan with my 3d printed stand keep the ram cool and quiet. The ram is about 40 C. I hooked up logitech keyboard and trackball and work flawlessly. Hook up Schiit Modi 3 seem to have some ground noiSe so I at Douk Audio to convert signal to optical which prevent the ground noise. For Graphic I use the GTX1080Twith Egpu TH3P4G3. work perfectly eGPU temp is about 31 C. My window is 11 Pro 23H2. Hope if thing can clarify for someone need similar build.
