ASUS laptop L210 ultra thin laptop 11.6 review

Design

It has sleek design and it is compact and lightweight 11.6 inch laptop. ASUS laptop L210 has dimension of 11 x 7.5 x 0.67 inches and weight is 2.31 lbs. Screen resolution is 1366 x 768 pixels.

Ports

Port selection is well rounded, including: USB 2.0, USB 3.2, USB Type-C, HDMI, audio jack combo and micro-SD card. Wireless connectivity comes in way of Wi-Fi 5(802.11ac), and an included webcam on the upper bezel. All of these ports will prove useful for docking all your peripherals.

Keypad

the keyboard is quite basic with very light keys and very little tactile response. The Enter key alone, is colored in luminescent yellow, and it does give the otherwise plain deck some little style accent.

Touchpad

The new ASUS NumberPad simplifies the entire digital processing process. Just click the icon to open it. Everything you need is printed on the touchpad

Battery Life

The low power fanless CPU and low-res screen all contribute to remarkable power savings. On our review unit, you have a mid-size battery, and if you keep things light, you’re getting 11 hours of battery life. That’s excellent.

Processor and storage

The Celeron N4020 is a slight upgrade over the base 4000 model with more cache but, while it’s adequate to run office applications, multimedia editing and gaming will be a bit of a stretch.

This fanless CPU is ranked amongst the mid-range mobile processors, is partnered with 4GB RAM, 64 GB eMMC storage and Intel UHD Graphics 600 chip. This is adequate enough for web browsing and office application, and the very simplest games of course. For budget gaming, you can consider the Asus TUF FX505GT-AB73, with a dedicated Nvidia GTX 1650 graphics card.

Windows

The notebook comes with Windows 10S (not windows 10) which can be upgraded free and easily. If the upgrade is not made, then you are limited to the programs/apps in windows’ store which is not very comprehensive. The only issue here is that the Windows 10 version the upgrade goes to is 64 bit (not 32) which has compatibility issues with some older programs.

ASUS laptop L210 ultra thin laptop 11.6 performance review

The WiFi range is quite good. I remained connected to my WiFi for just about fifty feet, and the signal needed to pass through walls. The camera is okay, but to be honest I do not use it much if at all. I simply tested it. At just over two pounds, it travels well in my backpack and I use it during my commutes to and from the office.

This laptop is a crazy good game-changer

I own a PC repair shop as well as a video production business. I use very powerful computers for most of my work, but I see many advantages in keeping a cheap tiny laptop around to take with me anywhere I go. I upgraded to this from a one-year-old Dell Inspiron 11 with a Celeron N3050, a similar machine with a much bolder color and nearly identical specs. A lot has changed in one year!

This laptop has a Celeron N4000 which is a true game-changer in the world of cheap laptops: its single-thread speed is more than double that of the Celeron N3050 from the Dell and its total speed is nearly double, plus it’s faster at single-thread processing than the Core i3-3217U in my beloved Asus Vivobook X202E. The built-in GPU should not be underestimated; it won’t play the most greedy games of today, but it’s got a lot of 3D processing power behind it.

This laptop can run Adobe Premiere and can be used to edit 4K 100Mbps 8-bit footage at a 1/8 resolution preview, so a Premiere proxy editing workflow is very doable. It has more USB ports than the Dell Inspiron 11, all 3.0/3.1, with one as the new Type-C connector. Having Wireless-AC in this package is simply amazing. The design is classic Asus: the touchpad is great, the keyboard is a flat Mac-style one that takes a second to get used to but is wonderful and quick once you adjust to it, and the thing just plain looks good.

You can drive a 4K TV and the GPU can hardware-decode H.265 HEVC 4K video too! It’s obviously no Ryzen 5 or Core i5/i7, but this little budget beast should not be underestimated. Two last tips: buy a 128GB V30-rated microSD card for extra storage since it only has 32GB and if you’re handy in an admin command prompt, run “compact /compactos:always” to compress the OS and cd into Program Files and Program Files (x86) and ProgramData and run “compact /c /s /i /f /exe:lzx *” to compress all your program files; this takes full advantage of the fast CPU to further accelerate the 30 MB/sec maximum you get out of he eMMC SSD and frees up a lot of the otherwise insufficient storage. This makes a much bigger difference than you’d think. You’re welcome!

Can you do ASUS laptop L210 RAM upgrade?

I found the eMMC disk drive to be fast, the computer boots in a few seconds. There is a Micro SD slot. 256GB micro sd card is only around $25 and is immensely helpful in increasing available storage (buy a name brand only; i.e. microcenter, sandisk, pny, crucial, kingston, etc etc). The internal eMMC drive or the RAM can not be upgraded.
