The 16GB frame should hold about 15,000 photos and the 32GB one about 30,000 photos. Video content will reduce this number, but there is a 1GB upload limit for videos too. The PhotoSpring Smart Frame is available now in various colors for $149 (16GB) or $169 (32GB). If you plan to collect content from a number of family and friends, then I would pony up the $20 for double the capacity.

PhotoSpring (32GB) 10-inch WiFi cloud digital picture frame review

Build

After removing the top black frame, it’s easy to see how superior the plain white frame looks and how nicely it sets off your images. It is a traditional matted look with a black, gallery style outer frame or a streamlined modern look.

Design

Measuring at 12 x 8.8 x 1.5 inches, PhotoSpring (32GB) 10-inch WiFi cloud digital picture frame weighs 2.55 pounds. The entire front has a glossy finish with the edges rising just a bit above the display so the screen is protected if you have it resting face down on a table. There is about a 32-33 mm (1.25 inch) border around the touchscreen display. This makes it easy to hold onto and interact with the display

Added feature

You can view the PhotoSpring in landscape or portrait orientation with the dock openings in the bottom and right side to facilitate charging in these orientations. There are two speakers on the bottom (landscape) adjacent to the charging stand opening. A standard 3.5mm headset jack is also positioned to the right of the speaker in case you want to enjoy video content through a headset.

Display

PhotoSpring displays videos in full HD. Combined with a high-quality 1280×800 screen, your photos and videos will look great. The display is bright and clear with a solid resolution for viewing photos and videos.

Storage

It has 32GB cloud storage. I have added 1200 photos and invited other members of our family to email their own photos to the frame. It allows friends and family to upload pictures.

Photo share

Sending images to the PhotoSpring is as easy as an email or loaded via a web browser that then downloads to the frame. Load speeds are acceptable and the frame continues to operate while images load in the background.

App

There are iOS and Android PhotoSpring apps to download and install on your phone. After signing into your PhotoSpring account you can tap on the Send Photos button and then select photos and videos right from your smartphone to share. After selecting content you choose the frame you want to share to (you can have multiple frames connected in the smartphone app), confirm that selection, and then add a title to the content if you desire. You can also skip titles if you like.

Cons

-No USB or SD slots-Requires subscription for all featuresAdvertisement

While as a free-standing frame, it’s compact enough to sit nicely on a desk or living room mantle, it’s also specifically wall mountable by removing a small cover from the back and re-attaching the cord. On the tabletop, Nixplay’s remote can magnetically adhere to the back of the frame so it stays securely within reach.

Nixplay’s 10.1 inch Smart Digital Picture Frame, with its 1280 x 800 pixel display, and wide 16:10 aspect ratio, makes your photos and videos pop with dazzling color and detail. Watch photos and videos a part of a playlist and set up slideshows with multiple timed transitions for endless entertainment in either portrait or landscape orientation.

The frame’s mobile app lets you lets you connect to and control your frame from anywhere, which is especially useful for elderly or non-technical family members. Because it works via Wi-Fi, there’s no physical input, such as SD cards or USB sticks, but the frame does have 8GB of onboard memory for direct storage of photos and video.
