ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHD 27 inch frameless 4K UHD IPS monitor review

Build

The build quality of the ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHD is first class. The plastic used feels premium. It is strong and durable. The backside of the monitor has a matte finish that makes it easy to clean. The stand is made of metal. It occupies less space on the desk and is sturdy without any wobble.

Design

The ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHD comes in an elegant design. It has a thin profile and its bezels are ultra-thin. This gaming monitor weighs 15.43 lbs.

Connectors

The connectivity options of the ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHD are generous. You get: 2x HDMI 2.0, 1x DisplayPort 1.2. There is also a 3.5mm Headphone Jack. This monitor has 2x 2.5W built-in speakers.

Buttons

There are five OSD buttons present on the right-hand side of the lower bezel. One of them is the power button, another one is a shortcut button to volume and the rest of them help you navigate the OSD menu. They are responsive and easy to reach. A joystick would have been a better option.

Resolution

In general, if the Pixel density of a monitor is between 90 and 100PPI, it is considered optimal. The ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHD has a massive pixel density of 163PPI. The images on this monitor will have better detail and the text will be much sharp. This is also easy on the eyes as there won’t be any pixelated images or blurry text that where you have to squint your eyes.

Brightness

The ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHD has a brightness level of 350-nits and a contrast ratio of 1300:1. It is really bright and you will not have any issues even in bright environments. I would suggest you tone it down a little to avoid eye strain.

Color accuracy

The color accuracy of this monitor is excellent. The IPS panels are popular for their superior color accuracy. You will have stunning visuals with vibrant looking images and rich colors that pop out. Watching movies or playing games on it will be a visual feast. You can also use it for entry-level graphics design.

HDR10

The ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHD supports HDR 10 which is an entry-level HDR. Its HDR performance is fair. It is not completely perfect but is much better than other budget HDR 10 monitors in its price range. You may need to do some color tweaking here and there but overall it is satisfactory.

Refresh rate & response time

It has a response time of 4ms which is decent enough for most gamers. Its input lag is around 10ms and is imperceptible. You won’t have any major issues with ghosting and motion blur. Like most 4K monitors in the market, it has a refresh rate of 60Hz. There are very few 4K monitors having a higher refresh rate than 60Hz and they are very expensive.

ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHD 27 inch frameless 4K UHD IPS monitor Performance review

The ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHD has a blue light filter that filters the harmful blue light emitted by the monitor and makes it possible for you to work on the monitor for long hours without worrying about eye strain.  I now have the ability to enlarge the text to make reading easier and less strain full on my eyes… also watching movies seem to have a much easier time on my eyes…all in all, with poor eyesight, bigger screen & larger text.

ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHD 27 inch frameless 4K UHD IPS monitor Customer review

Great little 4K monitor with some surprises

I bought this monitor to go with my Xbox one x and it looks great after some calibration and fine tuning, the upscaled fake Xbox one x “4K” at 60hz looks amazing but also I noticed that this monitor actually supports 1080p at 120hz, that would technically make this the cheapest 4K 120hz monitor on the market but unfortunately it cannot support this due to hardware limitations. I’m sure if you had a pc you could over clock it past it’s Advertised 75hz vía DisplayPort. The only draw back with this monitor would be the lack of free sync but this isn’t a deal breaker for me since I’ve never seen screen tearing on Xbox before and most games are capped at 60fps anyways. I’ve tried a few of the gaming 1440p gaming monitors and they don’t “pop” the way this monitor does with colors and details on Xbox. I’m sure this would be a great monitor for photo editing too if I had a pc. The stand and menu buttons could be a little better but these aren’t really drawbacks for me. Overall I would definitely recommend this monitor to anyone and I think it deserves more love especially at this price point.

REASONS TO AVOID

-Average contrast-HDR looks only slightly better than SDRAdvertisement

You don’t often see the word budget associated with a 4K monitor, but the Asus TUF Gaming VG289Q isn’t just affordable; it’s a great gaming monitor too. Despite being available for $349 as of writing, it offers a tremendous amount of performance, making it a fantastic value for gamers looking to get to 4K without breaking the bank. We’ve even seen 4K monitors priced at $400 offer lesser gaming performance.

With the VG289Q priced so low, it’s not surprising that its refresh rate is limited to just 60 Hz (FreeSync works down to 48 Hz). Of course, hardcore gamers will want more Hz, but casual players can make do with fast-paced scenes showing sufficient detail and excellent pixel density.

There was no ghosting when we gamed on the VG289Q, and overdrive successfully helped eliminate motion blur. SDR titles looked extra colorful, but there was hardly any improvement when moving over to HDR games.
