Understanding what sets this monitor apart starts with its specifications. This monitor is crafted with gamers in mind and designed to deliver the ultimate gaming experience.
Display Quality and Resolution
This gaming monitor’s 1440p resolution is like going from a bike to a motorcycle. Its crispness and clarity guarantee that every piece in your game looks as good as it was meant to. Its excellent color accuracy and wide viewing angles, which come from being an IPS screen, are essential for a fully immersive experience.

Brightness
The brightness of the HDR is average. Highlights in HDR don’t stand out against the background of the image, despite getting a little bit brighter than in SDR. Positively, it does not perform a tone map before your source because of its strong PQ EOTF tracking and sharp cut-off at peak brightness. The ‘HDR Gaming’ Picture Mode produced these outcomes.
If you’d want something with HDR brightness enhancement, consider the ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQL1A, which is its replacement.
The SDR brightness of the ASUS VG27AQ is decent. It maintains a constant brightness across various content and gets bright enough to combat glare in well-lit spaces. However, if you’re sensitive to bright lights and wish to use it in a dark environment, its high minimum brightness could be a problem. These outcomes come from calibration in the ‘Racing’ Picture Mode at maximum brightness.
Refresh Rate and Response Time
When it comes to gaming, milliseconds matter. The 170Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time of the monitor provide you the competitive edge you need in fast-paced scenarios with buttery-smooth graphics and nearly instantaneous responses to your inputs.
G-Sync Compatibility
One advanced tool in a gamer’s toolbox is G-Sync technology. The gaming is more smoother and there is less screen tearing when the refresh rates of the monitor and GPU are synchronized. A brief tutorial on G-Sync claims that this function makes sure nothing interferes with your gaming.

Competitive Gaming
For FPS and competitive gaming, the Asus monitor is like a precision instrument. Its speed and clarity ensure that every shot counts, and every movement is tracked with precision. With features like G-Sync, you’re less likely to experience lag or screen tearing, making you a formidable opponent in any match.

Asus 27-inch 1440p 170Hz 1ms G-Sync gaming monitor white QHD IPS HDR400 consumer reviews
LOVE IT!!
Upgraded from a 31.5” 1080 curved monitor. The quality on this is a DREAM. I love it and the extra features are great compared to what I was using before. Although I was initially looking for a curved monitor, I’m glad I found this one. It’s great for Apex. I love Asus Tuf and this one did not disappoint. I mounted it on my wall with a studless mount and it’s been serving me well. Only downside is maybe the speakers could be a little louder, but it’s way better than the lack of speakers I had before. Easy set up. Colors look great and they have different settings you can adjust, as well as having the ability to save them if you’re going between different uses. I would recommend and have no major complaints so far.

Asus ProArt
The Asus ProArt Display PA278CGV has an excellent color-accurate screen, a stylish design, and all the ports needed to connect desktop or laptop PCs. The PA278CV comes with a three-year guarantee, a great dead pixel policy, and a tilt, rotate, pivot, and raise and lower screen height stand. Additionally, it features a USB-C connector with adequate power to charge almost any laptop. Due to its QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440, it isn’t as sharp as a 4K screen, but it is also thousands of dollars less expensive than comparable 4K monitors.
Most laptops include one or two USB Type-A connectors, sometimes none at all. The PA278CGV features a built-in USB hub (with two ports on the rear and two on the side) in addition to HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.4, and USB-C connectors on the back. The USB-C port on the monitor allows you to connect a suitable laptop to handle charging, the USB hub, and the display signal all at once with just one cable. Unless your laptop has a more powerful graphics processor for media production or gaming, the monitor can supply up to 90 watts of power to charge the computer. This is sufficient for most laptops.
In our testing, the PA278CGV demonstrated remarkable accuracy, particularly when calibrated to the monitor’s presets for widely used color schemes such as Rec. 709 and sRGB. The results, which are displayed in the table below, show that most people couldn’t distinguish the differences between the PA278CGV and original colors without a direct comparison. The 27-inch ProArt’s improvement to 10-bit color depth, which allows the panel to display 1.07 billion colors instead of the 16.7 million that an 8-bit monitor can, is another feature we enjoy.
Dell G2724D
Although both the Dell G2724D and the ASUS TUF VG27AQ are inexpensive 1440p gaming monitors, most gamers will find the Dell to be a better option. This is because, in contrast to the ASUS, the Dell supports HDMI Forum VRR and has a far faster response time at all frame rates, resulting in crisper motion. In terms of image quality, the Dell also has an advantage because its pictures appear more realistic due to increased brightness, better management of reflections, and increased accuracy prior to calibration. If you don’t want to utilize headphones, the ASUS offers an advantage over the Dell because it features built-in speakers.
Conclusion
Gamers are drawn to the Asus 27-inch 1440p 170Hz 1ms G-Sync gaming monitor because it blends amazing graphics with fast performance. It’s made to accommodate your demands whether you’re playing for fun or engaging in a competitive competition. This monitor justifies its position as a valuable purchase for any gaming setup thanks to its many advantages over its few disadvantages. This could be the ideal choice if you’re looking for a new screen to enhance your gaming experiences.
