Design

The ultra-thin bezels of the Acer KB272 EBI 27 IPS Full HD contribute to its attractive sleek design. In fact, it has a 100x100mm VESA pattern, which is uncommon in displays in cost range. In addition, the screen may be tilted by -5° or 25°. VGA and HDMI 1.4 ports are available for connectivity. This display is made even more appealing by AMD FreeSync, a lovely thin-bezel design, and a VA (Vertical Alignment) panel for an excellent contrast ratio.

Ports

There are just two video inputs available for the KB272 EBI: one VGA and one HDMI. For people who require a current display but have older systems, the availability of VGA may be advantageous. However, the single HDMI is somewhat inadequate. Because most modern devices cannot connect via VGA, the majority of users only have access to one input on the monitor. The majority of rival devices, such as the Sceptre E248W and HP 24mh, have an extra video input.

Display

VA panels include broad 178-degree viewing angles, which let you view the screen from almost any angle without noticeably lowering the quality of the colors, contrast, or brightness. 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) pixels make up the screen resolution of the Acer KB272 EBI 27 IPS Full HD display. That translates to an 81 pixel density per inch on a 27-screen.This problem is less of an issue when playing games or watching movies, especially if you’re sitting a little closer to the screen.

Brightness

With its 178° wide viewing angles, the Acer KB272 EBI 27 IPS Full HD boasts an IPS panel that maintains the same image quality no matter how you view it. Together with about 95% coverage of the sRGB color space, this results in reasonably accurate and vibrant colors that aren’t oversaturated.

Though you won’t get as deep blacks as similarly priced VA panels with ~3000:1 contrast ratios, you will get broader viewing angles and faster pixel reaction times thanks to the IPS display’s inherent IPS glow and 1,000:1 static contrast ratio!

Refresh rate & input legs

With a negligible 10ms delay at 75Hz, the Acer KB272 EBI 27 IPS Full HD input lag performance is superb. Furthermore, at this refresh rate, any noticeable trailing of quickly moving objects is removed thanks to the response time speed of 4 ms (GtG).

Additionally, the monitor features a 48–75Hz variable refresh rate (VRR) that supports AMD FreeSync. You can turn off all screen tearing and stuttering within the specified VRR range if your graphics card is compatible with this technology.

You also receive support for LFC (Low Framerate Compensation) thanks to the 48-100Hz VRR range. To avoid screen tearing, LFC will cause the monitor to leap to 94Hz (47FPS x 2) even if your frame rate lowers to 47FPS.

Acer KB272 EBI 27 IPS Full HD setup

After inserting power cable, you can add this monitor via HDMI port. In addition to the power button, there are five monitor hotkeys for navigating the OSD (On-Screen Display) menu. A few Overdrive modes (Off, Normal, and Extreme) and numerous pre-calibrated picture presets (User, Standard, ECO, Graphics, Darkroom, Movie, Reading, and sRGB) are also available if you want to accelerate the pixel transition time. The other buttons can be used as shortcuts for certain operations, such choosing an input source, switching between picture presets, altering brightness, etc., when the menu is not active.

Great monitor, great price

Working from home made me need more ‘monitor’ space to have a remote desktop and a gazillion windows open. I bought a 27″ Acer monitor in April 2018 for when I needed something bigger than the 12″ laptop and it was serving me well, so I bought another. So far, I am very happy with the purchase. Visually, it is almost identical to the first, with same size frame. The pedestal is slightly different, but the new one also tilts. I know the internals are different, but I am doing mostly office work, with spreadsheets, browsers and word processors, so they both get the job done! Good clear picture for all those zoom meetings and space to have a word doc and spreadsheet open at the same time. I also watch videos (YouTube, movies) during breaks and the color and pics are great and more dependent on the transmission rate than the monitor. Controls are on the right side of the monitor, on the back. there are four rectangle buttons and one toggle round button. Reach back and toggle the bottom button to show the menu, then choose the rectangle button from the screen display. The very top button turns the display off!

Acer KB272 EBI 27 IPS Full HD monitor alternative

Samsung Odyssey G7 C27G75T

There are two main categories of the finest gaming monitors: high resolution and quick refresh rate. However, they hardly ever do both. That’s not the case with the Samsung Odyssey. This is a great option for any gamer who enjoys playing open-world, immersive games one day and Esports the next because it can fit 1440p resolution and a 240Hz refresh rate onto the same panel.

We tested the display using the VA panel, and we had no problems at all. This is significant because the technology in this monitor is known to cause problems like lag, motion blur, and ghosting. In fact, the colors and vibrancy are so superb that you might easily mistake it for an IPS panel.

However, you may need to adjust a little bit in order to reach that point. It requires some work to get up and going, so it’s not flawless. For players with a varied collection of games, however, the Samsung Odyssey G7 is a great option.
