Price
The Coway Mighty Air Purifier retails for $250. While you can find an effective purifier for less than $100, budget options won’t offer the same breadth of features or coverage area.
That makes Coway AP-1512HH stand among low-range air purifiers, with an attractive price of around $249 on official Coway website.
Filter Replacement Costs: ~ $48 for a 1-year filter pack, including 1 x HEPA filter and 2 x Carbon filter.
Monthly Energy Consumption: ~ $3.3 (based on 12 cents per kWh and 12 hours use on top speed per day). Use our Energy Usage Calculator to find out the bill based on your usage and the local energy rate.
The power consumption of Coway AP-1512HH could be as low as 4.9 watts, thanks to the fantastic Eco Mode. This Eco Mode will put the air purifier in a standby (which only consume 4.9 watts) whenever it detects a better air quality and there is no need to run the fan. It is safe to say that Coway AP-1512HH is the most energy-saving air purifier in the market today. Even the top brand in energy-saving field – the Rabbit Air can only reach the minimum of 5 watts.

Design
The Coway AP-1512HH air purifier has a compact design. It comes in both Black and White in color. The housing is ABS plastic. It has the following dimensions – 18.3 inches high by 16.8 inches wide by 9.6 inches deep and weighs slightly more than 12 pounds.
Top panel
You will have 5 function buttons on top of this air purifier. Like any other classic air purifiers, Coway AP-1512HH has an air outlet grill on top to release the fresh air out to your environment.
Filter
Within the Coway AP-1512HH, amazingly, there is no sacrifice at all. To compete against Winix with their signature PlasmaWave Technology, Coway added enough air purification process to be at mid-range level. Let’s have a look in the 4-stage filtration of Coway AP-1512HH:
- Pre-filter – A washable pre-filter will help you capture the large particles of contaminants, from pet hair, human hair and mold. Keep in mind that this pre-filter is washable and therefore, is permanent to use.
- Activated Carbon Filter – This filter works its best to deodorize and trap harmful gas to keep your place fresh and odor-free.
- True HEPA filter – The high-performance composite True HEPA Filter that captures 99.97% of down to 0.3 microns allergens, virus particles, pollen, mold and fungi particles.
- Ionizer – Vital ionize boosts the cleaning power and freshens the air. Can be switched on/off.
Room Coverage
The Coway AP-1512HH has a powerful fan with 3 fan speeds. You need to know that the purifier has a CADR of 240 cfm for Pollen, 246 cfm for Dust, and 233 cfm for Smoke.
As such, the air purifier can clean a 350 square feet room in 12 minutes theoretically. Check out more room size recommendations from below. With moderate CADR ratings, the air purifier is suitable for both small and medium-sized rooms.
For best practice, consider the size of the room a little less than the calculated value.
Condition | Required minimum Air Changes per Hour (ACH) | Suitable Room Size (8 ft ceiling) | The time it takes to clean the air in the room |
---|---|---|---|
Normal | 2 | 870 sq ft | 30 min |
Allergies and/or asthma | 5 | 350 sq ft | 12 min |
Smoke or highly contamination | 8 | 220 sq ft | 8 min |
If you have higher ceilings, then use our Air Changes per Hour Calculator to calculate the suitable room size.
CADR & ACH
The ACH of Coway AP-1512HH is 4X. This specs is as powerful as the Korean air purifier rival – Winix. More air changes per hour result in more frequently your room will be cleaned.
The CADR of Coway AP-1512HH is also impressive, with 246 Dust/ 233 Smoke/ 240 Pollen (cfm). One again, Coway is even with Winix in terms of power. CADR tells exactly how well an air purifier can clean the air within a particular size room and if you concern of the power of your air purifier, you should choose Coway AP-1512HH right away.
How to Adjust Air Quality Sensor?
By the default, Coway air purifier is set to standard sensitivity. If pollution levels are high after two hours of working or if the pollution level is low, but the air quality does not seem good to you, you can adjust the air quality sensor.
You can adjust the air quality sensor by following these steps:
- Press speed button and Ionizer for two seconds
- After that, you will hear a beep with 1-second intervals. The speed indicator will blink and show you the sensor sensitivity.
- Now you can set the desired sensitivity level by pressing a speed button. Go for low sensitivity if the room’s pollution stays at the highest level for longer than one hour.
- In the end, you need to hold for two seconds the ionizer and speed button to resume regular operation.
Low Noise
At the highest fan speed setting, the Coway AP-1512HH air purifier produces 53.8 decibels of noise. While this is higher than the average noise at home (40 decibels), it’s lower than noise generated during a normal conversation (60 dB).
When you switch to the lowest speed setting, the purifier runs quietly. It produces 24.4 decibels. For understanding, the noise produced by rustling leaves is about 30 decibels.
How to setup Coway AP-1512HH white HEPA air purifier?
It takes very little effort to get the Coway up and running. The front panel of the unit snaps off to reveal the filters which come packaged individually. Just remove the plastic before reinserting the filters, plug it in, and you’re ready to go. The process is the same for replacing the filters, which you’ll need to do when the filter indicator light turns on (likely once every 3 to 6 months).
We found in our testing that after only a few hours of use, the entire space smelled fresher—even with a dog in the home.
The instructions detail how to operate the unit and use each feature, but what you won’t find in the accompanying booklet is exactly what each function does. For example, you can see the air quality on the indicator light—blue for clean, purple for mid-range, and red for poor
Coway AP-1512HH white HEPA air purifier Performance reviews
This top-notch performance is mostly improved through a clever True HEPA filter, which are made with the high-quality material. A vital ionizer is also crucial in releasing a charged ion cloud to trap any allergens lurking around the True HEPA filter. This air cleaning system is exactly what makes the Rabbit Air BioGS 2.0 so successful, and again it boosts the Coway AP-1512HH to a next level of air filtration.
Having an ionic feature in your air purifier is a reason to create ozone and irritate asthma and respiratory issues. And it seems ozone emission level of Coway AP-1512HH is worse than Rabbit Air to handle it. So if your health is affected by ozone, you should turn off the Ionizer in Coway AP-1512HH.
Coway continues to surprise their customers with an incredibly low air filter cost. The Coway AP-1512HH’s air filter is only $45, which is lower than both the $68 of Honeywell HPA300‘s and the $119 Winix WAC9500. You need to replace the True HEPA filter once per year and the Activated Carbon filter once every 6 months.
In fact, we were using two Coway AP-1512HH devices at both our home and our office. The symptoms of serious allergies had reduced significantly in a short time. There is not a slightest sign of asthma when using the ionizer within this device, so don’t worry.
320 sq. ft. Room Test
I tested the Coway AP-1512HH in a room of 320 sq. ft. The device was running at third speed all the time for 60min. During that time, Coway lowered the AQI from 148 to 6 and drastically improved the air by 96%. I can say that this is one of the better results I have gotten so far by testing air purifiers. Below you can see a table with a detailed view of all values.

---|---|---|
PM 2.5 | 113.8 | 4.7 |
PM 10 | 159.3 | 6.6 |

320 sq. ft. Room Test – Auto Mode
I tested the Coway Mighty again in a 320 sq. ft. room. This time I switched the device to auto mode. Besides, I changed the sensitivity of the air quality sensor to “Standard.” The Coway AP-1512HH improved air quality by about 90% in 60 minutes. The device lowered the AQI from 134 to 13. I am delighted with this result, as well. If I had increased the air quality sensor sensitivity to “Sensitive,” I believe Coway would have made even better results.

Coway Airmega 400 Smart is the one true powerhouse in the air purifier industry. It’s made by Coway – which immediately means ‘performance’ – and it’s the biggest and latest Airmega model.
The capability to improve indoor air quality is just outstanding. Coway Airmega 400 Smart has a maximum coverage area of 1,560 sq ft (while still maintaining 2 air changes per hour). This is thanks to its record-breaking 350 CADR rating. Such a high CADR rating is only possible to achieve thanks to the upgraded Airmega Max2 filtration system.
Of all the Coway air purifiers, the Airmega 400 Smart is the best at removing both large and small particles (thanks to Max2 True HEPA filter) as well as getting rid of undesired odors (from the kitchen or from outdoors).
On top of that, the 400 Smart is the quietest Coway air purifier with 43.2 dB max. noise levels. It comes with advanced Coway features such as air quality monitoring, Auto Mode (fan speed is adjusted to the level on indoor air pollutants), and tells you when the Max2 filter needs replacing.
The inevitable drawback of air purifiers – including the superb Coway 400 Smart – is the higher weight (almost 25 lbs) and higher single-unit price (because you need only 1 and can even use it as a whole-house air cleaner).
Pros
- Amazing performance; 350 CADR rating can cover up to 1,560 sq ft rooms, or even whole houses
- The quietest Coway air purifier; the decibel meter goes only to 43.2 even on the highest setting
- Has the new Airmega Max2 filters that combine the actions of True HEPA filter and activated carbon filter
- Not only the best Coway air purifier; it’s quite possible the best air purifier in 2021 in general
Cons
- It’s heavy because it’s big – weights almost 25 lbs
- Compared to smaller Coway AP units, it has a higher price tag. But you do only need
Blueair Blue Pure 211+
SPECIFICATIONS
- Room size: 540 square feet
- Filters: HEPA
- Silent filter + washable pre-filter
- CADR (smoke/dust/pollen): 350 cfm
- Speeds: Three
- Noise level: 31–56 dB
- Warranty: One year
REASONS TO BUY
+Exceptional performance on highest speed+Fun color options
REASONS TO AVOID
-Loud on low speed-More expensive upfront and over time than competing models
The Blue Pure 211+ is highly rated for its solid performance in removing dust, smoke and pollen from room air.
The Blueair’s filters aren’t true HEPA-certified, but they are still effective. They work by giving particles an electric charge, which causes those particles to stick to filter fibers.Advertisement
The Blue 211+ pre-filter comes in five different colors, from eye-popping yellow to low-key gray, so you can customize the look for your space. The machine also has a filter indicator light to let you know when it’s time to replace your main filter.
Possible downsides of the Blue Pure 211+ include more noise on lower speeds compared with similar machines, and relatively high purchase and maintenance costs. For example, it draws more power than the Coway on similar speeds (though it moves more air) and it is a bit louder and more expensive (both upfront and over time).
