These gadgets can range in cost from under $100 to well over $500 depending on the size of the space it can clean. The Levoit Core 400S lists for $219, which is about the same as the similarly capable Coway AP-1512 HH Mighty. Replacement filters for the Core 400S cost $50 each.

The filter needs to be replaced every 6 to 8 months, which seems great. Levoit offers four types of replacement filters you can choose from. The air purifier has no electronic filtration such as a UV-C light or an ionizer, so the purifier is entirely ozone-free.

Annual Filter Replacement: ~ $40 – $55 for different types of filters, based on 6-month use per filter.
Monthly Energy Consumption: ~ $1.9 (based on 12 cents per kWh and 12 hours use on top speed per day). Use our Energy Usage Calculator to find out the bill based on your usage and the local energy rate.

Design

It comes with modern white casing and blue indicator lights. The unit stands about 20.5 inches (52 cm) tall and is 10.5 inches (27 cm) in diameter. It weighs 11 pounds (5 kg).

Many of Levoit’s other air purifiers have a similar design, but the Core 400S is larger (and more expensive) than those. However, it’s smaller than the LV-H133 and LV-134, tall tapered cylinders designed for larger rooms.

Room coverage

The room size calculation is based on an ideal situation. For best practice, consider the size of the room a little less than the calculated value.

ConditionRequired minimum Air Changes per Hour (ACH)Suitable Room Size (8 ft ceiling)The time it takes to clean the air in the room
Smoke or highly contamination8130 sq ft8 min
Allergies and/or asthma5210 sq ft12 min
Normal2530 sq ft30 min

Top panel

All these Levoit models have similar touch-sensitive control panels up top, but the Core 400S swaps out the power button in the middle with something even more useful: a color-coded indicator that tells you how clean your air is.

You can set it to sleep mode, where it goes to the lowest fan speed and turns of the indicator lights. It also features a display lock button to prevent unwanted touch. Levoit Core 300 does not have any air quality sensors.

H13 filter

The core layer is a HEPA-like filter designed to catch particles about 3 microns across. Levoit calls it an “H13 True HEPA” filter which supposedly “can achieve a better purification effect than traditional general HEPA,” according to the filter’s Amazon page.

There’s a pre-filter that catches larger particles such as fur, visible dust and lint. A carbon layer “neutralizes” smoke, smells and fumes such as the volatile organic compounds that emanate from gasoline or new plastics.

The third level of filtration is based on granular activated carbon materials, which absorb odors from pets, cooking, and VOCs. However, this is not a heavy-duty odor absorber as the filter bed thicker. So, don’t select it if your primary concern is to eliminate odors from your room.

Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) & ACH

Levoit Core 300 has a CADR of 141 cfm for smoke particles, suitable for a small to medium-sized room. You will get 5 air exchanges per hour in a 210 square feet room, which looks great. The purifier has a 360-degree air intake and a top air outlet, which is the most efficient air circulation design.

Noise level

The lowest noise is only 24dB, which is below the whisper level, and the maximum noise level is around 50 dB, which looks a bit louder for a 141 cfm air purifier. So, you have to use it in your small bedroom at night but with lower fan speed.

Setup

The purifier comes completely assembled. All you need to do is rotate the unit upside-down, twist off the top panel, and insert the round HEPA filter. Lock the panel back on, and you’re ready to use it. Short of plugging it in, there’s nothing else to do. The whole process took us less than 30 seconds and was very clearly laid out in the accompanying instruction booklet.

How does it work?

though: a high-efficiency particulate air filter—AKA a HEPA filter. Acting as the second filtration stage—after the pre-filter which screens large particles and before the activated carbon filter which eliminates odors3—the HEPA filter traps microscopic particles that non-HEPA filters are unable to efficiently catch. Basically, it’s designed to filter out mold, fungi, pollen, and pet dander, making it ideal for allergy sufferers.

Levoit air purifier for home allergies pets hair in bedroom H13 Air Cleaning Performance reviews

When we filled our 150 square testing room with smoke, it took the LV-H132 thirty minutes to remove 77% of the airborne particles, and after an hour, it had achieved a reduction of 94%. For comparison, the top-performing Coway removed over 99% of particles in just half an hour. The similarly priced GermGuardian AC4300BPTCA was also able to remove over 99% of the particles, though it did take the full hour to do so. The similarly quiet PureZone was also slightly better, reducing airborne particulate by 96% over an hour. The LV-H132 has just enough power for small rooms but may struggle in larger ones.Credit: Jenna Ammerman

This means that the LV-H132 is really only cut out for smaller rooms of around 100 square feet. If your bedroom is on the smaller side, this machine would be an excellent option.

Levoit air purifier for home allergies pets hair in bedroom H13 customer reviews

Great features like Auto mode. Very quiet.

I’ve had the 400S working for a few days and I am as impressed as I was with the 200S. I love how quiet it is, the Auto mode, and laser particle detection. Removing 99.9% of 0.1 micron particles is awesome. The HEPA technology sounds good – not sure how I would validate it?

I love the display – very modern and slick. The App works great and I think my issue with Alerts is probably a user error :-(. This is my third purchase and I love all the models; they are all being used and we are very happy with the results. Setting schedules is also so easy and convenient – especially when one unit is remote.

I highly recommend Levoit Purifiers based on several months of usage with the 200S.

Levoit Core P350 Pet Review

Pros

  • Perfect small room air purifier that removes pet-related air pollutants (fluff, fur, hair)
  • You can get several of them and place them in rooms where your cat or dog likes to stay
  • New pre-filter with higher efficiency and capacity at capturing large pet particles
  • Crazy low pricing Levoit is known for

Cons

  • Understandably, only pre-filter is upgraded, HEPA and activated carbon filters are the same
  • If you put it in too big a room with several pets (300+ sq ft), the pre-filter can reach capacity quickly
Coverage Area:219 sq ft
CADR Rating:141
Filters:3-Stage Filtration (Pre-Filter, HEPA, Activated Carbon)
Filter Lifespan:6-8 months
Noise Levels:24–50 dB
Dimensions:8.7 x 8.7 x 14.2 inches
Weight:8.5 lbs

If you have pets – cats, dogs, other little furry animals – you’re probably vacuuming several times per week. Here’s the newsflash; even without a vacuum lifting them up, small pet dander and fluff is in the air.

Several air purifier brands have developed an air purifier for pets to remove all that fluff and pet particles too small for a naked eye to see, including Levoit.

The Levoit Core P350 Pet is the quintessential small room pet air purifier. This is not some kind of innovation; the Levoit Core P350 Pet is based on the design of the all favorite Levoit Core 300. You can see that from the model number: 350 is a successor of 300, and ‘P’ stands for ‘Pet’.

With pets, the most important part of the filtration system is the pre-filter. To best combat larger pet-related particles, Levoit has designed a new fine non-woven fabric pre-filter. It’s more effective at capturing all those large pet dander, fur, and floating hair. What is even more important, it has a higher capacity than a standard pre-filter.

It goes without saying that the HEPA filter that follows the pre-filter reduces up to 99.97% of harmful air pollutants, smoke, pollen, mold spores, dust mites, and other allergens as small as 0.3 microns.

All in all, Levoit Core P350 Pet is the perfect solution for people who have pets. Usually, you buy several of them for the number of rooms in which your cat or dog likes to be lazy:

Levoit LVH132 HEPA Review

  • Appropriate for very small 10×10, 12×12, 14×14 rooms (coverage area 129 sq ft)
  • Decent 110 CADR rating for a tiny unit as well as impressive reviews
  • Get this; Levoit LVH132 costs less than $90

Cons

  • Only appropriate for rooms smaller than 200 sq ft
  • Doesn’t come with a compact honeycomb filter
Coverage Area:129 sq ft
CADR Rating:110
Filters:3-Stage Filtration (Pre-Filter, HEPA, Activated Carbon)
Filter Lifespan:6-8 months
Noise Levels:27–46 dB
Dimensions:8.5 x 8.5 x 14.6 inches
Weight:6.6 lbs

Levoit LVH132 is the basic Levoit HEPA air purifier for very small rooms. In many ways, the fact that it is so basic is its primary advantage.

This is a small 6.6 lbs air purifier with 3-stage filtration and not many moving parts. That gives it quite a few advantages:

  1. For one, it’s the quietest Levoit air purifier. It’s max. noise level is only 46 dB; compared to 50 dB of Levoit Core 300 and 54 dB of bigger Levoit air purifiers.
  2. It’s the smallest Levoit unit; by volume, it about 5x smaller than the biggest Levoit model.
  3. It’s the cheapest Levoit air purifier. It costs less than $90. Any air purifier below $100 is an insane price; below $90 even more so.

The recommended coverage area of Levoit LVH132 is 129 sq ft. That makes it a perfect choice for very small rooms. Examples of room dimensions: 10×10, 12×12, 14×14 feet.

Nonetheless, it has a decent 110 CADR rating for such a tiny air purifier. All in all, the ratings and reviews Levoit LVH132 gets confirm this is one of the best overall air purifiers for the smallest rooms.

Levoit Core 300 Review

Pros

  • By far the most popular and best-selling Levoit air purifier
  • More than 22,000 positive Amazon reviews; people buy several of Levoit Core 300 in one go
  • Very solid specs (135 CADR rating) for small 14×14, 16×16, or 18×18 rooms
  • Costs less than $100, which is just an insane price

Cons

  • As much as people would want it, it’s not meant for 400+ sq ft rooms (you can use 2 in 1 room, however)
  • Has a standard activated carbon filter, not upgraded honeycomb like PUR131
Coverage Area:219 sq ft
CADR Rating:135
Filters:3-Stage Filtration (Pre-Filter, HEPA, Activated Carbon)
Filter Lifespan:6-8 months
Noise Levels:24–50 dB
Dimensions:8.7 x 8.7 x 14.2 inches
Weight:8.4 lbs
Price:$$$$

If you heard of one Levoit air purifier, it was definitely the Levoit Core 300. That’s the one with over 22,000 positive Amazon reviews; that’s not a typo. More than 22,000 have bought AND reviewed the Levoit Core 300.

It’s not to see why this is the most popular Levoit air purifier. It’s a small 219 sq ft room air purifier with a considerable 135 CADR rating. It’s perfect for 14×14, 16×16, and 18×18 rooms; and every house can have quite a few of these.

On top of that, it’s very energy-efficient. In fact, the Core 300 has an Energy Star certificate, which is great for a small air purifier.

That’s why people buy Levoit Core 300 in bulk. It’s not unusual to buy 3-4 Levoit Core 300 due to the confidence in the device (based on specs and reviews) and pure convenience. Levoit Core 300 weighs less than 10 lbs, you can carry it around with ease, and it actually looks nice in a room.

Alternate of Levoit air purifier for home allergies pets hair in bedroom H13

The Blueair Blue Pure 211+ is our choice among air purifiers for large spaces of up to 650 square feet, especially when the space involves open floor plans or high ceilings. With the ability to filter more air per hour than our top pick, the Coway Mighty, it works faster to achieve and maintain low particulate levels in such challenging rooms. The up-front price and running costs of the Blue Pure 211+ are much higher than those of the Mighty (totaling about $1,150 over five years), but that’s comparable to the costs of most other large-space purifiers we’ve looked at. It was an exceptional performer in our testing, and it’s quiet and attractive to boot. All that said, unless you really need to clean a particularly large space, the quieter, smaller, and more affordable Coway Mighty is usually a better option.
