Brightness – Epson Pro EX9240 3-Chip 3LCD Full HD 1080p wireless projector

Epson Pro EX9240 has impressive Colour Brightness of 3600 lumens and White Brightness of 3600 lumens which makes it suitable for both home and office application.

Image quality is excellent. 1080p content looks fabulous, with bright colors (even with ambient light in the room) and appropriate contrast, even in Eco Mode which dims the image a tiny amount, but silences the fan significantly.

For home theater projectors where ambient light is kept to a minimum, you’ll need a minimum of 1500 lumens. For conference rooms, a projector with a minimum of 2500 lumens is best. For large auditoriums or lecture halls, you’ll need more lumens.

Resolution

Epson Pro EX9240 has impressive WUXGA (1080+ or 1920×1200) resolution, it can used for both home theatre projector as well as business applications. WXGA provides16:10 aspect ratio which is ideal for wide screen laptops. Video was crisp, finely detailed, and the color saturation and range were excellent. The colors were rich, well-saturated, and vibrant. The blacks came out really nicely as well.

Contrast Ratio

The Pro EX9240 and EX3280 models, meanwhile, both feature lamp light sources, the Pro model sporting a Full HD resolution and the EX3280 has an XGA resolution. The models likewise feature 16,000:1 and 15,000:1 contrast ratios, respectively. While both have built-in speakers, only the Pro models have a 16-watt speaker.

Keystone

Focus is done manually, with a dial on the projector, but once focused it stays in focus unless you move your screen. Its built-in picture skew sensor automatically analyzes the picture and instantly corrects the vertical keystone to help square the image.

Lamp life

Lamp life is expected to be 6000 hours (or 10K in eco mode). 6000h is 750 days at 8h per day and you probably won’t use it that much.

Audio

The built in speaker isn’t sufficient for larger rooms or groups. You have to separate the audio first via a home theater matrix to play it on speakers. Alternatively you can use and HDMI extractor and Bluetooth transmitter if your speaker setup supports it.

Remote

The remote is comprehensively designed and includes batteries. the remote it comes with blasts it’s IR to either of the front or back IR ports. Which is great for rooms that it’s mounted on a ceiling and you could only hit one of the 2 IR spots because of the mounting. So front and back is very nice. Not only that, but in the settings they even let you turn off these IR spots individually. Plus the black gloss carbon fibre finish is very sleek!

There are 5 picture/color modes that you can easily cycle through using a button on the remote: Presentation, Cinema, sRGB (best for computer sources), Blackboard (intended for use on a green chalkboard), and Dynamic (best for video games).

Setup

Within Settings, image quality can be further fine-tuned for specific preference and taste. There are numerous options such as Color Mode (Presentation, Dynamic, Cinema, sRGB, and Blackboard), Brightness, Contrast, Color Saturation, Tint, Sharpness, Color Temperature, Image Enhancement (noise reduction), and Auto Iris (automatic image optimization based on brightness of projected content).

The Epson Pro EX9240 also features robust wireless connectivity including screen mirroring with Miracast. Miracast technology lets you mirror photos, videos and apps from your portable smart devices.

Epson Pro EX9240 3-Chip 3LCD Full HD 1080p wireless projector customer review

Great multipurpose project for home/business use

This is a great multipurpose projector for use with just about any media source. For most people, this will serve as a projector for their multimedia room. For movies/streaming, this is about as good as any projector I’ve seen.

For inputs, you pretty much have every port available on this projector. There’s USB-A/B, VGA and 2 HDMI slots. There’s no worry about having the proper port for whatever you’re looking to connect to this projector. The projector has buttons all along the top of the projector for easy access. These buttons won’t be helpful if you wall/ceiling mount this projector. However, there is an included remote as well with this projector. You can also download an app for your smartphone which will serve as a remote to in case you misplace the remote. The app is pretty good if you wanted to connect your phone/tablet directly to the projector without the need of cables. I found this to be especially useful on my iPad as I can project my screen when working on process flows or any diagrams to share out with my co-workers. One thing I did notice is when you connect the projector wirelessly, I ran into an issue with one of my laptops where there was some considerable lag between the laptop and projector. It was only with one laptop (an older one) but this was something that popped up. I used the Windows projector connect wizard which connects easily as well.

The clarity on the projector is great. Whether you’re using this to view Blu-Rays, stream movies or anything work related, there’s no issue here in terms of clarity. I’ve been using this as a second monitor for my work laptop. For your normal PowerPoints, web and document uses, this works great. I was equally pleased with how this worked with video calls as well. No issues or lag when on calls. There is a speaker built into the projector which works pretty well. It’s not anything high definition but it gets the job done. I actually muted the projector speaker when on video calls since I use either a headset or the laptop speakers for sound.

Size wise, this is pretty compact in design. I don’t think it’s either too big or too small so it’s about what you’d expect for a projector. One thing I was happy with was the noise. My other smaller projector I have is pretty loud. The fan on this projector is much quieter. It sounds as if there is a fan on low in the room next to you. You can hear it however it doesn’t sound like a mini hurricane like my other projector sounds.

Overall, very pleased with this projector and its performance. I’m looking for a ceiling mount for this thing to really make it look nice in my place. From a quality/performance perspective, there’s nothing negative I can say about this. Connectivity wise, there’s no issue here as I can pretty much connect any of my devices to this projector either via wire or wirelessly.
