The Versa 2 also has a microphone so you can talk to send a custom text message. However, you can’t make or receive phone calls directly though the watch since it doesn’t have a speaker.

The Fitbit Versa 2 looks very similar to the Apple Watch. It works with both iPhone and Android. The watch handles the basics pretty well. You can see your notifications, quickly reply to text messages or emails, track your steps, heart rate, and more.

Most of the features in the Fitbit app and device will work on your iPhone, such as notifications, Alexa, music control and connected GPS. The exception is with the quick replies and the microphone function to reply back to the incoming notifications. Also, when setting up your calendar notifications you’ll need to choose the native calendar app so it can work.

Fitbit Versa 2 Price

The Versa 2 is Fitbit’s new $200 smartwatch that includes all of the company’s fitness-tracking features. It adds things like Amazon Alexa, which you can talk to after pressing a button on the watch, and a nice new screen.

The Fitbit Versa 2 costs £199.99 / $199.95 / AU$329.95, although there is a Special Edition version that retails for $229.95 / £219.99 / AU$379 and comes with either a Mist Grey or Copper Rose chassis and a premium woven band in the box.

Fitbit Versa 2 review

Design

It has a bright and colorful OLED screen that’s easy to see inside and outside. It’s light and didn’t feel too bulky when I wore it to bed for sleep tracking. The screen is responsive

Screen

Fitbit has traded the Versa’s LCD panel for an OLED screen and this is the best upgrade that the Versa 2 brings. It’s bright, colorful, and easy to see both indoors and out.

Brightness

It’s capable of hitting upwards of 1,000 nits of brightness although we found this to be actually too bright for general use, setting our Versa 2 to the lowest brightness setting permanently. Even at a ‘dim’ setting, the 300 x 300 resolution screen is crisp and, thanks to its ambient light sensor, is capable of adjusting brightness according to the environment you’re in.

How does fitbit Versa 2 work with iPhone Bluetooth?

However, the Versa 2 can sync with an Android phone so that you can respond to text messages via voice from your watch, as long as your phone is nearby and connected to Bluetooth (only viewing is supported on iPhone).

Battery Life

The battery life is pretty solid, too. Fitbit promises up to five days if you have the “always on display” option off. I left it on, since I liked being able to look down and see the time whenever I wanted, I got just over three days of battery life, wearing it nonstop and using it for phone notifications, sleep tracking and more.

Fitbit Premium

I also like Fitbit Coach, which has a bunch of preset workouts you can follow along with by looking at your watch. It costs $7.99 per month and will soon be replaced by Fitbit Premium, which adds in more workouts and some coaching features.

Audio

Fitbit has also added a microphone to the Versa 2, giving it some limited voice control abilities. There’s no speaker, so you can’t use it as a speakerphone, but if you have it paired to an Android device, you can speak replies to messages and it will turn those into text.

How does fitbit Versa 2 work with iPhone Siri?

Another compatibility issue of Apple Smartphone and Fitbit Versa is Siri. You can not use Siri if you are using a Fitbit Versa with iOS. However, it is not a problem if you use a Fitbit Versa 2 smartwatch as it comes with Alexa Support.

Sleep tracking

There’s also a new Sleep Mode for the watch that disables the display from lighting up or notifications from buzzing while you’re sleeping, which seems like something that should have probably been available on last year’s model, but I’m glad it’s here now. You can initiate the Sleep Mode from the quick settings screen on the watch or through the smartphone app, where you can also set it to turn on and off automatically based on a schedule.

300 songs

Like the original Versa, the Versa 2 lets you download up to 300 songs to the watch itself for offline music playback. New for the Versa 2 is a Spotify app (for Spotify Premium subscribers only), which allows you to control playback from that service on the watch, provided you have your phone with you.

Fitbit Pay

Fitbit’s mobile payment system, Fitbit Pay, is available on all versions of the Versa 2, I was unable to test it because it doesn’t support my local credit union and has a far smaller number of supported banks and financial institutions than Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay (all of which support my credit union).

Drawback

there are some drawbacks to the experience. For one, while you can receive messages and other notifications from your iPhone on your Fitbit, you cannot reply directly to them from the fitness watch. Also, you can’t use Siri with a Fitbit smartwatch, though the Versa 2 now comes with Amazon’s Alexa smart assistant built-in.

How does fitbit Versa 2 work with iPhone Health app?

Well, Fitbit and Apple Health can work together, but they need some help from a third-party app. Despite customers having asked for this functionality for years now, Fitbit has stated that it is not ready to approve direct syncing with the Apple Health app yet.

The best thing about Apple Health is the dashboard view. You get information from multiple fitness apps on one screen. If you want to add Fitbit to the list, you can use a third party app called Sync Solver for Fitbit.

It acts as a middleman for data between Fitbit and Apple Health. You download the app and link your Fitbit account with it. This brings all the data from Fitbit to the app.

Then integrate Sync Solver with Apple Health. This is a one time process. Give the proper permissions and select the attributes you want to sync. You can manually sync data. The first sync will take a while. Once it’s done, go and check the data in Health app to find it there.

Once the initial setup is complete, let Sync Solver do its thing. It uses Apple’s background sync feature. It will automatically sync data from Fitbit to Health every hour. But more realistically, you can expect it to sync 2-4 times a day. If the sync isn’t working, you can manually do it as well. If you want to only sync sleep and weight data, it would be a good thing to do manually every morning.

Alternate of fitbit Versa 2

It’s been replaced by Fitbit Versa 3 ($229) on our lists of the best fitness trackers and best smartwatches. The Versa 3 features built-in GPS, a brighter and sharper display, and up to six days of battery life. making it one of the for sleep-tracking.

It is fair to say Apple dominates the smartwatch space, and with the price of the Series 3 Watch dropping significantly after the launch of the Apple Watch 5, it’s hard to pass this by. It offers way more premium features and more seamless user experience than the Versa 2. Where it loses out on is its battery life – you’ll need to charge the Apple Watch 3 practically every single day, while the Versa 2 will tick steadily on for about five.
