How to add Amcrest WiFi camera to NVR?
Establishing connection
Step 1: Connect NVR with Router
Connect an Ethernet cable from your router to the back of your NVR. It will go into the Ethernet port in between the HDMI port and the PoE ports. Make sure the NVR is powered on.
Step 2: Connect your Amcrest camera to NVR
Connect an Ethernet cable from one of the PoE ports on your NVR to your camera. This will confirm that it is powered on.
Step 3: Connect NVR with monitor
Connect a VGA or HDMI cable from the back panel of your NVR to a monitor or TV. Make sure that the monitor or TV is set to the correct input (e.g. VGA, HDMI 1, HDMI 2, etc.)
Connect the included mouse to a USB port on the front or back of your NVR.
NVR access & Management
Step 4: login
Please make sure NVR is turned on and then log into your NVR with your NVR’s login credentials. Access the NVR’s main menu and go to, Camera in the Management section. In this menu click on the device Search option to search for your device on the network.
Step 5: add your camera
Click the Device Search button, and you can view the searched IP addresses at the top pane of the interface. Double click an IP address or check one IP address and then click the Add button to add the current device to the bottom pane of the interface. The system supports batch adding.
Click the Manual Add button to add a device directly. Here you can set TCP/UPD/auto connection mode. The default setup is TCP.
Amcrest app
Amcrest has five different apps, including the Amcrest View Pro App and Amcrest Cloud. Each one works with a different Amcrest camera or storage option. So, for example, there’s an app you can use if you subscribe to Amcrest Cloud service, one for cameras that use DVR, and one for wireless cameras.
Like with the cloud subscription packages, this is confusing. If you have different cameras, you’ll likely use different apps to access footage and features.
Video Storage Options
Luckily, you don’t have to buy one of the below cloud subscription plans to use Amcrest cameras. Both of our cams came with the option to use a microSD card for local storage. But we also could have purchased our own NVR or DVR to store video. It’s all about choices with Amcrest, and we’re fine with that!
Among Amcrest’s cloud storage plans, we got the impression that while this brand might be affordable in terms of equipment, their storage and monitoring plans don’t necessarily reflect that. Whereas most brands charge between $3 for basic service, Amcrest is still charging $6 per month to store seven days of video history. And keep in mind, that price is per camera.
Here’s a breakdown of Amcrest’s cloud recording plans, keeping in mind that the company is currently offering a one-year free trial of basic cloud storage. We don’t know how long that offer will stand, but we were glad to take advantage of it this time.

Amcrest UltraHD 4K Bullet
The Amcrest UltraHD 4K Bullet is a bullet camera, which means it’s easier to aim at whatever you want to record. It’s also one of the few Amcrest cameras with color night vision. We find that color night vision makes identifying people much easier.
Like other Amcrest cameras, the Bullet camera uses a very narrow field of view of only 112°. Unfortunately, a small field of view means you’ll need more cameras to cover a larger yard.
Amcrest Video Doorbell Camera Pro
The Amcrest Video Doorbell Camera has both local (up to 128 GB on an SD card) and cloud storage options. That’s rare for video doorbells. Eufy has a similar doorbell camera, but it costs almost $100 more.
We like the local option for video doorbells because your footage is safe at home instead of floating up to the cloud. Plus, you don’t need to worry about subscription fees or how long your video is stored. How to add Amcrest WiFi camera to NVR?
It features a wider field of view than many of Amcrest’s security cameras too. So it can see your whole porch and some of your yard.
It doesn’t support 5 GHz networks, though. If you use 5 GHz for your phone and not 2.4 GHz, setting up the app for your doorbell camera can be tricky. You’ll need to switch your phone to your Wi-Fi’s 2.4 GHz before you can complete the setup.
Amcrest Floodlight Camera
The Amcrest Floodlight Camera uses 2,000 lumens to shed light on any nighttime situation. When it comes to motion detector lights, we love the LeonLite, but even it doesn’t match the sheer brightness of this floodlight camera.
The Amcrest Floodlight also has a 110 dB siren to scare off any potential thieves . . . or raccoons rooting through your garbage. It’s about as loud as a blaring car horn. How to add Amcrest WiFi camera to NVR?
One massive problem with this floodlight is that it isn’t compatible with Amcrest Cloud. So you’ll need to stick with local storage.
