Kyvol Cybovac E31 robot vacuum cleaner reviews - how to do troubleshooting

Its powerful motor easily sucks up dust, pet hair, and small crumbs from the floor, while its 150-minute run time makes it perfect for working in large houses all day. While most robot vacuums are only capable of sweeping, Kyvol’s E31 Cybovac also doubles as a mopping robot cleaner. It has a smart-navigation feature that senses steps (and therefore prevents it from falling down stairs), and its zig-zag function ensures a comprehensive clean. Build

The E31 has a standard matte black finish with a tempered glass top. It measures about 12.5 inches in diameter and just under 3 inches high, making it slim enough fit under most furniture.

Design

It is a sleek-looking robot with only one button that combines power and home switches.. There are Home and Clean/Pause buttons on top that change color to indicate charging and battery status, as well as a Wi-Fi signal indicator.

Brushes

The Kyvol E31 only has a sweeping brush on the left-hand side of the robot. The beater brush is in an easy to access door on the bottom. The robot comes with a tool to clean this and to cut loose any hairs or fibers that get caught around the rotating shaft.

Dustbin

The 0.6-liter dustbin inserts at the back of the vacuum and can be swapped out for the 0.3-liter water tank when you want to mop hard floors. Its 600ml dust container means that the dustbin only needs to be emptied every week, if used on hard flooring, or once every three days if used on carpeted areas.

The bin has three levels of filtration between the dust bin and the vacuum motor: a prefilter made of a fine plastic screen, a secondary filter made of sponge material, and a final filter made of pleated filter material. Here is the bin with the prefilter exposed.

Charging base

Then there’s the charging base. Basically, it’s the docking station that will charge the robot. All you have to do is plug it into the wall using the power adaptor cable (included). If necessary, you can use the storage space on the back of the base to store the extra cord—that way, you’ll be able to keep the area tidy.

Kyvol Cybovac E31 Setup

To start using the E31, you must first attach one of the side brushes to the vacant post on the bottom of the vacuum. Then plug in the charging dock, flip the power switch to “on,” and set the E31 on the dock’s contacts. It takes 6 to 6.5 hours for the battery to fully charge, which should provide about 150 minutes of running time. You’ll know the battery is full when the LEDs on top of the vacuum change from pulsing orange to solid blue. As the battery drains during cleaning, these will again change from blue to solid orange and finally flashing red when the battery level is critically low.

4 cleaning modes

The E31 has four cleaning modes. You can enable Spot mode on areas that need a deeper cleaning; the E31 will vacuum in a spiral pattern in a diameter up to 3.9 feet for about two minutes, after which it will go into standby mode until you tell it to resume cleaning in another mode or return it to its dock. In Auto mode, it cleans all accessible space in a zig-zag pattern with medium suction, boosting the power when it’s on carpet. It’s best suited for general maintenance cleaning. Lastly, Edge mode sends the vacuum along the perimeter of the room for about 20 minutes.

Sweeping and mopping

The mopping and sweeping feature is really useful, although the mopping should be considered as a daily clean. It will not remove heavy dirt, but it’s useful for light soiling. The robot will clean for over two hours before returning to its dock to recharge. The E31 has boundary strips that are physical magnetic barrier strips that the robot will not cross.

Anti-Drop Sensors

As mentioned earlier, the robot also comes with high-precision infrared sensors that prevent it from falling down stairs or other “cliffs.” In addition to that, it also has anti-collision sensors so that it won’t be constantly hitting furniture and other objects.

Kyvol companion app – Kyvol Cybovac E31 robot vacuum cleaner reviews

The app also creates a map of the area, although this map bore no relation to the maps generated by other robot vacuums I have used. The map generated by the Cybovac E31 did not resemble the space at all. There is no option to update or delete the map either.

You can set the controls to follow an automated schedule for sweeping or mopping, set the water volume amount, and specify the suction power you want when sweeping. You can also manually control the robot when it is in use, or set the controls for edge or spot mode.

kyvol app - Kyvol Cybovac E31 robot vacuum cleaner reviews

You can activate the various cleaning modes, start and stop cleanings, manually direct the vacuum, and send it to the dock to recharge using clearly labeled buttons and a directional pad. Both also allow you to schedule cleaning times.

Voice control

The vacuum supports limited voice control through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Once you connect it with the service of your choice, you can use a compatible smart speaker to start and stop cleanings, send the vacuum “home” to its dock, or locate its whereabouts when you lose track of it.

Battery life

As for longevity, the E31 takes between 6 and 6.5 hours to fully charge, which promises up to 150 minutes of cleaning time. Of course, mileage will vary depending on aspects like floor surface, suction level, square footage covered and so on.

In an hour-long auto session, with suction level two, covering approximately 55m² across laminate, tile and a set of rugs and coir matting, the Cybovac returned to its charging station with 53% charge left in its cells.

Kyvol Cybovac E31 robot vacuum cleaner performance reviews

Since this is a 28W unit and the published suction on the vacuum is 2200Pa = 8.84 inH2O, the maximum theoretical flow out the exhaust is 27 CFM (Air watts = 18.5 × vacuum suction [inches of water] × air flow [cubic feet per minute]). This assumes that all the power is provided to the vacuum but since there is some power rotating the beater brush and other power moving the wheel and powering the control system, this is obviously higher than any actual result.

The E31 sucked up a considerable amount of dirt and debris from the carpeted, hardwood, and vinyl-tiled floors in my home. It negotiated the transitions between these floor types without a problem, though it would occasionally get hung up on a power cord or a stray sock. In those instances, it would beep loud enough for me to hear upstairs and push an alert to my phone so I could go rescue it. Between the vacuum’s mapping and its plethora of built-in sensors, it was able to maneuver expertly around walls and furniture.

I used the mopping module on my kitchen and entryway floors. You fill up the water tank with tap water through a small opening, then remove the dustbin from the E31, replace it with the tank, and select a cleaning mode. Water from the tank moistens the attached mopping cloth as the vacuum drags it across the floor (you can adjust the water volume from the app). It doesn’t do a great job, but it’s no worse than similar hybrid vacuums. This floor-wiping method does OK with surface dirt, but it just doesn’t provide the agitation required to scrub deeper grime.

Kyvol Cybovac E31 robot vacuum cleaner customer reviews

Our home has an open concept with dark hardwood floors. We also have a yellow lab, as do both of our daughters, needless to say, before the Kyvol we were vacuuming or sweeping multiple times a day to save from being buried in dog hair! We have the Kyvol programmed to run at scheduled times. It is quiet and unobtrusive doing a great job cleaning the house, keeping it fur-free. The mopping function works great (we use a bit of white vinegar in the water which does not damage the plastic) to get rid of dirty paw prints when the dogs run in without getting their feet wiped.

The only issue that we have had is on a few occasions when running overnight, the Kyvol has gotten itself stuck under a piece of furniture that it can barely clear. This was solved by using a piece of the magnetic strip provided, now Kyvol avoids that area. The capacity of the dust hopper is adequate for a days worth of dog hair – we empty it in the morning which is easy. I almost never use the provided remote as the iOS app works great for controlling it. This was our first robotic vacuum purchase and there was little appeal in spending $500+ with the competition. The Kyvol E31 is an awesome balance of functionality for the price.

Kyvol Cybovac E31 troubleshooting

Why my Cybovac suddenly stopped working and not responding?

In case of sudden stop, please check if the Cybovac is trapped or stuck. After that check the Cybovac battery level whether it is not critically low or empty. And also check if you put it pause mode. If you do not find any response from Cybovac with the remote, check that the distance between the Cybovac and remote is within the effective range (5m/16ft). Sometime Power Switch ON / OFF works. Also ensure the batteries in the remote have power when operating the Cybovac with the remote.

Why my Cybovac cannot start the scheduled cleaning?

  • Make sure you press the Power Switch to ON.
  • Check if the scheduled time is set correctly(AM/PM).
  • Check that the Cybovac battery level is not critically low or empty.
  • Check if you have cancelled the schedule(s).
  • Check the status of the Cybovac. It will not start the scheduled cleaning if there is a problem.

My Cybovac is making noises while it operates. Is it normal?

The Cybovac will create some noise when cleaning, which is normal. Adjust your cleaning times to avoid being inconvenienced. If a sharp noise is heard, check to see if anything is tangled in the Main Brush and Side Brush. Check the Dust Bin for any objects that could create noise. If the Cybovac requires assistance, it will beep.

Why the Cybovac cannot return to the Charging Base?

Check that the Cybovac battery level is not critically low or empty. Also consider how far apart the Cybovac and Charging Base are. The further apart, the longer it will take to reach the Charging Base. Remove any obstacles near the Charging Base so the Cybovac can detect it. Clean the sensors on the Bumper of the Cybovac and the Charging Base with a dry cloth.
