Bissell CleanView Blue Pet vacuum reviews

Design

Weighing in at 17.96 lbs, it’s nearly twice as much as the Eureka PowerSpeed Lite, but just half a pound more than the Dyson Animal 2. It’s lightweight and the only lift handle is located on top of the removable canister. The push of a button detaches the canister from the vacuum, and then another button push—this time over a trash can—empties it.

Accessories

It comes with a turbobrush tool dusting brush, an extension wand, and a dusting brush crevice tool, with a power cord that extends 25 feet. The 25-foot power cord connects to the vacuum fairly close to the floor.

Brush

The dusting brush can be inserted into a hole below the upper hose wrap while the TurboBrush Tool goes just above the hose wrap. The brush design also works by rotating to penetrate suction deeper into the carpet before dirt is collected in the removable dirt tank. Once emptied, it’s also possible to wash the foam tank filter to maintain the vacuum to the highest standards.

Filter

Pre-motor filter and HEPA filter are two filters types in Bissell CleanView. You will notice 2 pre-motor fitlers – one carbon and one foam, found on the top of the dirt compartment. When If dust/debris accumulates on HEPA filter, gently tap the filter against a trash container to remove it.

Dirt compartment

The dirt compartment is easily removable. It opens from the bottom so you can empty dirt or the cyclone cylinder. You can wash the cyclone cylinder with warm water plus a mild detergent, but you need to let it dry for 24 hours before using it again.

Cleaning

The BISSELL CleanView Swivel Pet has a couple of extra features. This vacuum has five dial settings: I (bare floors and low-pile carpet), II, III, IIII, IIIII (high-pile carpet and shag carpet). You can adjust the dial as you need, which is good if you’re having a hard time pushing the vacuum.

Setup

The handle of the vacuum ships detached; all you have to do is insert it into the top of the vacuum, push until the handle is flush with the base, and then screw it in place with the provided screws. After that, there are only three other things to add to your vacuum: the clip that holds the hose wands/extensions, the hook that functions as a cord wrap, and the hose, which connects to the canister with a simple twist.

Clean and fresh

Surprisingly, for the price the BISSELL CleanView does its job well. Even after having recently vacuumed my carpet with a different vacuum, it still managed to get more pet hair. Having such a large clear canister also makes it visible just how much you are picking up.

The triple action brush roll has three types of bristles on it that seems to help get different textures of materials. Having the clear plastic over that brush roll is nice as well, as you can easily see if something is getting tangled without having to disassemble it. However, if you do have to get the brush roll out, that is six screws to remove on the bottom.

The tools include the Flexible Crevice Tool which has two settings by twisting it. One that is like a typical crevice tool and uses the tip for vacuuming and the other which uses the side for broader strokes. The whole tool is covered in rubber so it manages to grab hair pretty well. The Dusting Brush is pretty standard. The Pet TurboEraser Tool is interesting. It uses the power of the suction to create spin on the brushroll. It’s not like a powered brushroll as it will stop with any friction, so it takes a little getting used to. However, it did a great job at getting the hair off of my stairs.

Having the cord rewind makes things a lot easier when it comes to finishing up. Just a push of a button and all 27 feet of the cord is cleaned up for you. The down side to the large clear tank and the rewind is that you aren’t getting under much with it. The vacuum tilts and swivels well and will get slightly under the edge of beds and table, but not much. You can easily pull off the hose, snap on the wand extension and any one of the tools though.

The tank is easy to remove and empty and the filters are easily accessible for cleaning. I also really enjoy the Febreze Pet Odor Eliminator Filter that is included with this model. I don’t know how long it will last, but using this vacuum with this filter is refreshing and probably something I will end up replacing as it does wear out. As far as wear, this also comes with a 4 year limited warranty which is surprising as even higher priced vacuums don’t tend to come with one that long.

If you have pets and carpet, the BISSELL Cleanview Swivel Rewind Pet Select is certainly worth it. With the added Ferbreze filter, I just want to vacuum to freshen up my home.

Shark Cordless Vertex Pro Powered Lift-Away

  • Vacuum Type  Upright/Handheld
  • Bagless  Yes
  • Cordless  Yes
  • Anti-Allergy Filter (HEPA)  Yes
  • Wet Compatible  No

This vacuum delivers exceptional performance on bare floors and does a great job dealing with pet hair and various other kinds of solid debris on low and high-pile carpets. There are three suction power modes and two distinct surface modes on offer, though you can’t change the height of its floorhead. Battery performance is decent overall, as you can expect a maximum of 40 minutes of runtime when using it in its upright configuration, though you can drain its battery in as little as 10 minutes if you use it continuously in its high-power ‘Boost’ mode.

It’s lighter and more maneuverable than most conventional uprights like the Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away.

The Shark Cordless Vertex Pro Powered Lift-Away is a solid option if you’re looking for an upright but don’t want to deal with the hassle of a power cord. It’s very similar to the now-discontinued Shark ION P50 Upright in design, with a ‘Lift-Away’ alternative configuration that allows you to pick up and carry its canister body separately from its floorhead.

Its bulky dirt compartment can get in the way when cleaning under tables and chairs. If you’re looking for a cordless vacuum that offers strong overall performance, it isn’t a bad choice.

Unfortunately, this vacuum’s lack of a brushroll off switch can cause it to get stuck on rug tassels and shag-pile carpeting. Its primary brushroll also isn’t removable and tends to attract a lot of pet hair, despite its advertised “Self-Cleaning” design, making it quite hard to clean properly.
