Build

Unit is solid and exceptionally well built. Due to its dark grey colour and the silver handles it almost resembles a server case. In any case, the case looks very chic and simple and certainly fits in everywhere well. With a weight of 805 grams, the CoreBox is lighter than most laptops and can be moved to a new location quite easily.

Design

It’s a good size to put on the desk or anywhere really to the point that the eyes glaze over its very sleek and modern look. It dimensionally measures about 6.8 x 6.2 x 2.9 inches and weighs almost 3.5 pounds.

Ports

All the IO are located at the back; there’s four USB 3.0 ports, a pair of Gigabit Ethernet ports, two audio connectors, one barrel type power connector, one DisplayPort, one HDMI port and a Thunderbolt 3 one. What it means is that you can power three 4K monitors.

The bottom of the Corebox also features two long rubber sticks that raise the bottom of the PC by a few millimeters.

Storage

The Mini PC has 8GB of RAM, 256GB SSD, Intel Wireless AC 3165 and room to add a 2.5″ SSD or HDD.

Processor

Moving on to its technical board, CoreBox i5 integrates an Intel Core i5-5257U (Broadwell) processor up to 3.1GHz in Turbo mode, probably a bit outdated (since it dates back to 2015) but still powerful to handle everyday office tasks, 3D rendering, graphics design and other resource-intensive operations. It is supported by the Intel Iris Graphics 6100 chip, capable of decoding high-resolution 4K video and offering a satisfying multimedia experience.

Chuwi CoreBox Windows 10 mini PC Intel Core i5 mini desktop PC Performance review

It has a very small form factor. This little computer is a little workhorse. If you need something for internet browsing, checking your email, document creating, etc.

Using this Corebox with a 65 inch Smart TV to surf the net and do Zoom with the family. It works great and easy to set up. I added a Hard drive inside the Core Box for added storage

Attempting to use Adobe Premiere and other Adobe programs will show a compatibility warning every time. This is due to the graphics on the machine, they are simply not compatible ti run “some” Adobe programs; please not that Photoshop runs fine unless you use 3D objects. To make matters worse, the Mini PC is not compatible with Adobe’s fix which is a new graphics driver.
