What is the difference between foot spas and foot massagers?

Foot spas and foot massagers are not the same. A spa will typically involve immersing your feet in water, and there may be heated elements, rollers, and more. A foot massager has a heated function that tends to tired feet with massage or kneading motions and may not use water.

Foot spa/bath massager with heat bubbles and vibration reviews

Build

This is amazing. Has it’s own carry handle, A drain hose for easy draining.  The appearance looks good, similar to the hundreds outside. It is made of ABS plastic and light weight.

Design

Measuring at 18.3 x 16 x 13.3 inches, it has sturdy design and operates quietly. This foot spa has comfortable massage and warming temperature control. Drainage tube is super convenient to empty the tank, it’s easy to move this foot spa massager machine with 4 transport wheels and portable carrying handle.

Control

Control and adjust all functions with simple touch of 4 clearly marked buttons, making at-home pedicure easier. Stylish digital display with indicator lights helps track working settings of the foot spa massager conveniently and visibly.

Like the temperature control on the foot device. Heats up and massage the foot very well. The wheels on it make it easier to move around.

Foot size

Comfortably fits up to a Men’s size US-14. Product Size: 17.2″(L) x 14.8″(W) x 12.6″(H). Water capacity: 7L, weight: 10 lbs

Massage Roller

Roll feet back and forth on 4 pairs of massage rollers (not motorized) that are dotted with acu-nodes following sole reflexology for deep massage, which stimulates pressure points to improve your experience and sleeping quality; Adjust intensity and speed by changing the way you roll; Rollers can be removed when necessary

The foot massage rollers are powerful enough to give a descent foot reflexology. After using this foot spa for about 30 minutes my feet felt very relaxed and soft.

Bubbles & Vibration

I usually use it with mineral salts, and my feet are soft, and very relaxing with the bubbles. It’s almost as good as having an actual foot massage. I love the nubs on the bottom to massage. The shower feature has heated and has bubbles. It’s easy to set the controls. I enjoy using this spa. The massage features are great.

Heat maintenance

The water heats up very quickly and stays at whatever temperature you set up. The massage rollers work on your soles and relax your feet and legs. The unit has a function that beeps constantly if the water is hotter than the set temperature and is good to know.

Performance

It is very simple to operate – filling it with warm/cold water before plugging in, then press Start key to run it automatically. All features work very well so far and can be controlled/set individually, especially the motorized shiatsu rollers, feel much more comfortable compare to other regular rollers.

I like the foot spa massager. When I put my feet inside the tub, turn on the massager, leave my feet on the roller, the roller’s rolling make me feel there’s someone massaging my feet by hand.

Can you add epsom salt to foot spas?

It’s always best to read the manual that comes with your foot spa. For some of the simpler designs, especially those that don’t have any jets, it’s okay to add Epsom salt or soothing essential oils to the water. However, excessive amounts of products or build-up can interfere with the efficiency of some foot spa jets. “While salt does provide general soothing, it can also dry out the skin, so use with caution if this is part of a regular routine. Adding oil to the bath can keep feet from drying out,” suggests Dr. Damian Roussel, a podiatrist at The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics.

HoMedics Bubble Spa Elite Footbath

HoMedics Foot spa/bath massager with heat bubbles and vibration

Size: 14.75 x 15.5 x 6.75 in. | Weight: 4.8 lb. | Heated: YesWhat We Like

  • Splash guard
  • Toe-touch control
  • Removable pedicure attachments

What We Don’t Like

  • Not great for larger feet

Athletes tend to put their feet through grueling workouts, which is why many use foot spas to relax their muscles at the end of the day. If you’re active or even just have a job that keeps you on your feet, the HoMedics Elite Footbath is worth adding to your cart.

The bottom contains a seagrass surface that massages feet and when paired with the jets, that’s a winning combo for relaxation. If you add cold water, it warms up in a matter of minutes and maintains the temperature throughout. There’s a handy toe-touch control so you no longer have to bend down to change any of the settings. Other convenient features include a carrying handle and splash guard.

Kendal All-in-One Foot Spa Bath

Kendal All in one foot spa bath massager

Size: 17 x 13 x 10 in. | Weight: 5.3 lb. | Heated: Yes

What We Like

  • Great for larger feet
  • Comes in two colors
  • Anti-slip rubber feet

What We Don’t Like

  • Water can get really hot

The Kendal Foot Massager is a solid option that is easy to use and has heat, bubbles, vibration, lights, and massage roller inserts. You can use the vibration and light together, heat and bubbles together, or all of them at once, but you cannot choose any one setting independently or in any other combination.

I appreciated the power behind the bubbles on this bath: Other baths, like the Sharper Image or PB Teen, had a bubble function that barely worked or that wasn’t useful except for ambiance. The bubbles in the Kendal actually felt like a soothing, massaging tool.

For a more intense massage, you can insert rollers into the bottom of the bath, which you can rub your soles across. However, I didn’t like using them because my the tops of feet stuck out of the water when atop the rollers.

The texture at the bottom of this bath was slightly pointier (not painful, don’t worry!) than others and caused my paper towel to shred while I was cleaning it. Other than that, the bath is easy to rinse, transport, and store.
