Build

The case is constructed from a satin black plastic, which is both easy to clean and resists fingerprints. The top of the unit is smooth and arched, with a grey GooDee logo towards the back. It features a durable casing and uses customized touchscreen buttons rather than physical buttons that might break over time. You can clean the projector using a regular rag and dusting materials.

Design

The GooDee YG600 LED Projector is a mid-sized unit. It measures 12 inches wide, 9.36 inches deep, and 4.68 inches thick. This makes it well sized for home use, while still small enough to put in a bag for transport. You can easily take it outside in the backyard and set it up on an appropriate screen and still enjoy a movie even if it isn’t quite pitch black outside.

Connectivity

On the back of the projector, you’ll find all the video inputs. From left to right, there’s a VGA input and a pair of HDMI inputs. There’s a pair of USB ports, an AV port, a headphone jack, and even an SD card slot. Underneath, you’ll find the YG600’s power input, as well as an on/off switch. Furthermore, it can easily be hooked up to regular TV boxes, personal computers, laptops, tablets, DVD or VCD players, and much more. Video game players like Xboxes or Playstations are also included in its compatible attachments.

Control

At the front left, you’ll find the control panel, as well as the keystone adjustment dials for the lens. The control panel has a power button, a rewind button, a button to select sources, and a menu button. Four additional buttons allow you to navigate through the menu.

Display

It’s further enhanced with an aspect ratio of 4:3/16:9 depending on your screen preferences. It ensures that every grain of the original video footage should show up clearly compared to what you would expect with a regular HDTV or movie screen.

Brightness

The bulb has a brightness of 4,000 lumens, which is about average for a home projector. It’s good enough for a fully-lit room, or even for outdoor use. The only time you’ll see a problem with brightness is if you’re working in broad daylight. In that case, the sun will overpower the brightness of the YG600’s bulb. The contrast ratio is 3000:1, which is very good.

Audio

It features a single built-in speaker that can provide you with a theater-like experience when watching any kind of movie or playing any game. The speakers and quite surround sound quality, of course, but it is quite impressive compared to similar projectors at close pricing points.

The projector looks and feels full size with a very interesting design for the cabinet. Starting from the top you will find a black panel with an easy-to-operate manual focus lever and a set of control buttons. The button functions from left to right: Up, Down, Left, Right, Ok, and Return. Those are used to navigate the on-screen menus. You can do the same with the remote control as well as power on/off, Fast forward/reverse, menu shortcuts, signal source, and volume +/-. The manual power switch can be found on the back panel along with the inputs and output jacks.

In city lights with a 16 ft diagonal footprint, the image was bright. As the image got larger it was obviously less bright but still really impressive for an entry-level unit at such a low price. If you had space in your backyard to make a 25 ft diagonal screen you could do it.

The GooDee YG620 Native 1080p Projector 300″ Full HD LCD Video Projector is very good. It is much brighter, quieter and has great contrast. as compared to my old $450 LCD projector. It works well with what I have to project with. The result is like sitting in a movie theater when coupled with a good sound bar. The projector’s sound is better than average and good enough for video games. The remote control is very small and needs to be kept close by as not to lose it somewhere in the couch. It works fine as is, though. Happy with it!
