Samsung hasn’t announced pricing yet for the new models, but for context, the 32-inch M7 was released at $399.99 while the 27-inch Samsung M5 monitor was $229.99, so you can probably expect prices slightly above and below those two extremes.
The M7 series now includes 43-inch and 32-inch 4K options. The M5 series uses 1080p panels and comes in 24-inch, 27-inch, and 32-inch sizes. Samsung is also introducing a white version of the 27-inch and 32-inch M5 Smart Monitor.
Both the Samsung M5 and M7 monitors have Samsung’s Flicker-Free technology, Eye Saver mode, Game mode, HDMI-CEC, adaptive picture, and Auto Source Switch+ feature. They run on Samsung’s Tizen 5.5 OS with support for Samsung SmartThings app. They also come with ConnectShare 2.0 and sound mirroring. Design
Both the Samsung M5 and M7 monitors come with a VA panel and sport a bezel-less design on three sides offering an immersive experience. The small, simple stand also means that you don’t get height, swivel, or pivot movements on this display. It tilts and supports 100mm VESA mounting, but that’s it.
Display – Samsung Smart Monitor M5 vs M7
As mentioned earlier, Samsung Smart Monitor M5 has a 27-inch full-HD (1,920×1,080 pixels) display and the Samsung Smart Monitor M7 has a 32-inch 4K (3,840×2,160 pixels) display. Both have a VA panel with 16:9 aspect ratio, 250 nits of peak brightness, 8ms (GtG) response time, HDR10 support, 3,000:1 contrast ratio, and 178-degree viewing angles. The Samsung Smart Monitors come with a standard 60Hz refresh rate.
Ports
For wireless connectivity, these monitors come equipped with WiFi and Bluetooth 4.2 and for the wired connectivity, you get a couple of HDMI ports, a couple of USB ports and a USB Type-C for data, display and up to 6\5W fast charging for other devices charging other devices.

The Samsung Smart Monitor M5 comes with FHD resolution for both 27-inch and 32-inch variants while the Samsung M7 boasts Ultra-High Definition (UHD) resolution. Both the Smart Monitor M5 and M7 run on Samsung’s Tizen OS out of the box that allows users access to content streaming platforms like Apple TV+, Disney+ Hotstar, Prime Video, Netflix, Samsung TV Plus, and YouTube. Voice assistant
With the integrated stereo 5W speakers, the monitors can serve as a hub for your smart assistant. These panels come with access to Samsung’s Bixby 2.0, Amazon’s Alexa, and Google Assistant. Samsung also promises SmartThings integration to help access and control your smart home.
Remote
You can also connect remotely to your work device in the office. You obviously have to connect the keyboard and mouse. It’s not the fastest connection, but it’s fine for standard office tasks. The Samsung M5 and M7 monitors also come with the Office 365 app, which lets you access your Office files in the Cloud without a PC.
There’s also a bundled remote control with hotkeys for Netflix and Hotstar. In case the remote is not handy, you also have Samsung’s smart assistant Bixby for voice commands.
Samsung DEX
Both monitors support Samsung DEX, users can turn the phone into a mini PC to use office applications with full wireless connections to external peripherals. even with the Smart Monitor M5. The setup corner with wireless DEX, wireless mouse and keyboard, will only have one power cord of the Smart Monitor, extremely neat.
Refresh rate
The Samsung M7 monitor has an 8ms response time, a 60Hz refresh rate and no adaptive sync. This makes no difference in work applications, when browsing the web, and watching media, but it’s not ideal if you want to play games on this display too, and you’ll want a higher refresh rate if you want smooth animation in certain work tasks too.
Samsung Smart Monitor M5 vs M7 Performance review
The Philips’ smaller diagonal size means it’s a little crisper than the Samsung (Philips offers a 157ppi density level; Samsung only manages 138ppi) and it uses IPS technology, which means better colours than the M7. Conversely, though, the Philips does have poorer contrast.
The Samsung M7 doesn’t have the quality or gamut ability to handle colour-sensitive workloads, but it does have lashings of vibrancy, reasonable accuracy and stonking contrast, which makes it ideal for tackling everyday, mainstream workloads where colour isn’t key – and it’s great for media after work, too.
It only displays 71% of the Adobe RGB gamut and the VA panel uses 8-bit rather than 10-bit colour, so it’s not got the ability to handle colour-sensitive design and photography tasks. The peak brightness and the DCI-P3 gamut coverage level of 73.9% means it’s not good enough to handle HDR media or workloads either.
Should you buy it?
Samsung’s Smart Monitors are available in several configurations. The M5 series is available in 27- or 32-inch FHD screens, while the Samsung M7 is available in a 27-inch UHD 4K configuration. All configurations reach up to 250 nits of brightness, support HDR10, and can be placed on a stand or mounted to a wall to save space. The 27-inch M5 is available for $229, while the 32-inch version starts at $279. The M7 is available for $399.
