This one comes with an extra slightly padded layer that you could use or detach. The massager works by making gel nodes, that are embedded in the upholstery, rotate in two different modes i.e. Shiatsu and Rolling.
Control
There’s a remote attached to the right side of the seat which controls all the functions of the device. The gel nodes that massage the cervical (neck) area and the back area have separate controls on the remote, so you can have multiple combinations of Shiatsu and/or Rolling massage from the gel nodes delivered to these different regions of your spine.

I chose this unit because it had a 24 month warranty AND had positive profiles in several online reviews. It is very strong so I use a towel between the massages and my back. The heat is excellent and the controls to hit problem spots on my back are excellent. Neck massage covers my entire neck and I am 5’11” and 200lbs. Over all I am very satisfied. I will write more after using it for a few weeks. The only way to improve any back massager in my opinion would be to have an option where you can use it laying down rather than in a chair.
