Build

Both the robot and its auto-empty station are finished in matte white. It feels premium.

Design

The Yeedi Vac Max is circular shaped. It is shorter and has low height. The robot itself is 350mm wide and 77mm high. This means that it can fit underneath sofas and beds to clean areas that you might not otherwise be able to reach with a standard vacuum cleaner.

Yeedi vac station robot vacuum accessories

Under a lid, there’s a .45-liter dustbin and storage for a brush-cleaning tool. Underneath, there’s a roller brush, a side brush, and a .24-liter water tank that distributes water to the mopping cloth. There’s a 3D visual SLAM camera on top that the robot uses to map your space for more efficient cleaning routes.

Brushes

On the bottom of the Yeedi Vac Station, you’ll find two retractable wheels and the main wheel at the front. There’s a motorised floor brush for sucking up dirt, and a three-pronged side brush when can flip out any hard-to-get dust or crumbs from tight corners.

Dustbag

The auto-empty station stores a 2.5-liter disposable dust bag that can hold around 30 days of collected dirt and debris. It automatically disposes of dirt when the dustbin is full.

Ultrasonic carpet sensor

It comes with ultrasonic carpet sensor and this can identify the type of floor you want to clean and the method. It can even tell the robot vacuum to crank up suction power and avoid mopping on your carpet while cleaning your floors. This is how Yeedi knows when to mop or vacuum your floors.

Suction – Yeedi vac station robot vacuum and mop self-emptying 3 in 1

There are three levels of suction for the Yeedi Vac Station: standard (600 Pa), max (1,500 Pa) and max+ (3,000 Pa), with an additional boost mode for when it is used on carpets. A robot vacuum with this type of suction power can pick up any type of hair including animal hair as well as crumbs and dirt embedded in your floor or carpets.

It did good job sucking up dust and pet hair from carpets and vinyl plank flooring during my testing. Once the robot completes a cleaning job or its dustbin is full, it returns to its dock and the auto-empty station sucks the contents from the dustbin.

Mopping

For mopping, you fill the water tank and attach one of the supplied microfiber cloths, at which point the robot voice prompt lets you know it has entered mopping mode.

The mopping function is activated by clipping on the water tank, which can hold up to 240ml. Then, a microfibre wash pad can be clipped on underneath. The bot will automatically recognise when it is in mopping mode. The robot drags the dampened cloth across the floor as it moves, picking up most surface grime but leaving deeper dirt behind.

Battery & charging

This robot vacuum comes with a 5200 mAh built-in battery. The battery can provide up to 200 minutes per charge and covers up to 2000 square feet. That is a lot of space for a vacuum to clean on one charge.

Self – emptying

This includes its self-emptying function, which does reduce hands-on maintenance requirements. Its smart-pathing navigation system creates a permanent map of its coverage area, which you can then use with a variety of functions via its companion app. Unlike the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum, you can set up virtual boundary lines. You can schedule cleaning sessions for individual rooms or even small specific areas too.

Apps – Yeedi vac station robot vacuum and mop self-emptying 3 in 1

The app prompts you through this process, which requires you to scan the QR code on the robot with your phone’s camera and a generated QR code on your phone with the robot’s camera. Altogether, getting the Yeedi ready to clean took about 10 minutes.

While you can start a cleaning job simply by pressing the auto clean button on top of the robot, pairing it with its companion app will let you take advantage of features like room mapping and scheduling.

In each room you’ll set up virtual boundaries on where you want the robot vacuum to clean and when. And you will be able to add and revise all your schedules and cleanings.

It takes three to five cleanings for the robot to build a complete and accurate map, but once it does, you can section the room into cleaning zones and set virtual boundaries and no-mop zones.

iRobot Roomba j7+

Attention pet parents who’ve had the misfortune of returning home to find dog waste smeared all over your floors. If you’re looking for a robot vacuum that can actually detect and avoid pet messes, consider the iRobot Roomba j7+ (7550). From its refined navigation technology to improvements over previous models, the j7+ is our second favorite best self-emptying robot vacuum for your money.

Pros:

  • Improved obstacle avoidance technology over previous Roombas
  • Powerful suction picks up stubborn debris on carpets
  • Smart mapping technology for precise cleaning around your home

Cons:

  • Emptying base is loud
  • Methodical cleaning method isn’t the quickest
  • Doesn’t have bagless dirt disposal

The Roomba j7+ has more advanced navigation technology than previous Roombas. It’s called PrecisionVision Navigation. As a result, Roomba j7+ is more skilled at detecting and avoiding pet waste, cords and other hazards around your home. That makes it more independent, so you can confidently schedule cleanings when you’re at the office or running errands.

Some other robot vacuum manufacturers offer obstacle avoidance technology in an effort to prevent such messes. iRobot backs the Roomba j7+ with its clever Pet Owner Official Promise (P.O.O.P.), and will send you a free replacement up to one year from your purchase date if your vacuum doesn’t avoid pet waste.

As with the iRobot Roomba i7+ (7550) with dirt disposal, the Roomba j7+ holds up to 60 days’ worth of dirt and debris. The capacity isn’t larger than previous models, but it really doesn’t need to be, especially considering how many competitors offer 30 to 45 days’ worth of storage. When the bin is full, just throw the used bag away and replace it with a new one.

You can monitor the battery level on your phone, but you don’t need to worry about returning the Roomba to its base when it gets too low. That’s because j7+ automatically recharges and resumes cleaning.

If you’ve owned Roombas before, you’ll recognize several of the same features as previous models. One example is powerful suction with a multi-stage cleaning process of maximum pickup. This self-emptying Roomba also works with Alexa and Google Home devices for voice control.

You can say something like, “Roomba, go clean under the kitchen table,” and the vacuum will make its way over to the kitchen table. An iRobot app is also available if you prefer to use your phone to give commands and set up Keep Out zones to avoid certain rooms.

While the Roomba j7+ is similar in many ways to its predecessors, it has iRobot Genius technology. This lets you program the robot vacuum to start cleaning when you’re gone and stop when you get home. It’s really handy if you need to sleep or get work done, as the j7+ isn’t the quietest robot vacuum on our list.
