Dual band

It has dual, separate bands, one 2.4 gigahertz & one 5 gigahertz. If your device is able to use the faster speed, it will recognize it & it will show up as an option to connect to. If your device is only able to use the slower speed, that’s the only one that will be an option. You can choose which one you want to connect to if both are available. That’s nice because the 2.4 gig works better over distances & through walls, although it’s slower.

Speed

The modem and wi-fi performance is strong. I have the 400mbps down and 20 mbps up plan with Xfinity and I regularly see 460mbps download and 24 mbps upload speeds. I actually downgraded from the 600 mbps Xfinity plan but when I had that plan, this router was able to do 525-540 mbps down, which is still very great.

ARRIS SURFboard SBG10 Setup

This is a very simple device to set up install in manage has an app to access the router making it more convenient and easy to access there are a lot of control you don’t see in some basic routers plus the range on it is quite astounding. It connects very well with xfinity! I’ve 5 different appliances such as computers and tvs and including cell phones and laptops hooked to the wifi and I’ven’t had a problem at all!

Quick & easy setup

With just a few quick cable connections and a visit to your ISP’s activation page, you can have a lightning-fast home network up and running.

  1. Connect the cables: coaxial, power, Ethernet

ARRIS SURFboard SBG10 DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem performance review

It worked like a breeze with an android phone. It took less than 5 minutes after using the android for the set up process. I did it all online without having to call or chat with support. I also did a speed test with the XFINITY provided modem and the ARRIS modem (picture attached) and the 2.4G network was better on the arris than with the xfinity provided modem and the 5G network was practically the same.

I noticed zero difference in performance and we got 4 phones on wifi, 2 TVs streaming, 3 laptops going plus the desktop. Next I bought this router to replace the Comcast router and got the same performance. I reduced my Comcast bill from 230 per month to 75 with all these changes. When you include the cost of YouTube TV, the total bill was reduced from 230 to 125. I also researched the 3 WiFi adapters – Roku, Amazon Firestick and Google’s chromecast. I found Firestick to be the best but then found out Google’s chromecast blocks Amazon’s Prime video and Amazon’s Firestick blocks YouTube TV. Therefore in the end, I had to go with Roku.

ARRIS SURFboard SBG10 DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem customer review

Works great with Xfinity!

I was skeptical going from a separate modem and router to a combo, but I’m glad I made the switch. My old combo didn’t support Comcast’s new speeds, so I needed to upgrade to realize the full benefits. My 5GHz wireless d/l speed went from about 100Mb/s to over 300Mb/s. Wired stayed the same, but probably because I have an outdated ethernet cable. As far as range, I live in a three story townhome. Router goes on the top floor and has no problem reaching the bottom (third) floor. Remember, internet signal is like an umbrella – it branches out and down. Overall, extremely happy with this deal of the day (99.99)! Also, make sure you rename your SSID and use the same passwords to match your old settings so your devices will reconnect seamlessly. Download and activate through the app, then get on your PC to set up your SSID/passwords. Don’t forget to change the default admin password as well!
