Elite Screens Yard Master 2 120-inch outdoor indoor projector screen review

Build

The stand and frame is very light and very sturdy and comes with everything you would need to make even it more sturdy (pegs and rope).  It’s highly portable—with a lightweight aluminum frame that folds up into a small form factor and unfolds to full size quickly and easily—and it comes with a soft padded bag that makes it easy to carry and easy store when you’re not using it.

Design

It measures 7.1 by 9.4 by 32.7 inches (HWD) and weighs only 20.3 pounds fully loaded. Inside the case is the frame, two units that slip into the bottom of the frame and unfold to turn into the feet, the screen itself, and some assorted hardware and guy lines.

Image quality

This screen has a great picture quality and the screen was wrinkle free after setup. The screen reflects light nicely and with a 3000 lumen 1080P Epson 3LCD home theatre projector on our 135” 16×9 screen we could start the movie before sunset. The picture brightness was good through the twilight hour and really incredible after dark.

DirecTVNow being one them. Kodi and 720p content looks good particularly older movies shot on film, Kodi depends on your PC and video card and scaling algorithms. Netflix, Vudu, BLuRay and Hulu content is stellar but some services the higher resolution and large screen show issues with the compression.

Viewing Angle

The screen material includes a black border around the actual 16:9 white screen to help frame the image and set it off from whatever is in the background. It gives a good image with a 1080p projector.  Screen reflection levels are great even with moderate powered projector, right around dusk it looks fine.

Setup – Elite Screens Yard Master 2 120-inch outdoor indoor projector screen

Its pieces are connected by hinges, instead of separate pieces that you have to connect and disconnect by hand, which means you simply unfold it set it up and fold it put it away.

Take the folding frame (A) out of the carrying bag (H) and place it on a flat surface. Unfold the longer sections first. Unfold the frame until the latch on the hinge “clicks” into place. Repeat the procedure for the shorter sections. Make sure all 4 corners of the frame are at a 90° angle and the hinged support bar is straight and not bending.

Insert the frame legs (B) into the openings located at the left and right bottom sides of the folding frame (A). Secure them by fastening the knob screw (E) into the adjacent hole. Next, screw the
eyebolts (F) in to the openings located at the top of the frame. Take the screen material (D) out of the screen material bag (C) and align the corners of the screen material with the inside corners of the frame. Unfold as shown in the diagram.

Take the screen material (D) out of the screen material bag (C) and align the corners of the screen material with the inside corners of the frame. Unfold as shown in the diagram. Tie 4 pieces of rope (2 on the left and 2 on the right) to the eyebolts (F) that are located at the top of the frame. Next, lift the screen up while simultaneously opening the frame legs. Two people are needed for this step.

To secure the frame, place a stake (I) into each hole located on the frame footing, and hammer it into the ground. Finally, tie the 4 ropes (G) to the stakes to prevent the screen from tilting or falling over.

How to clean

You can clean them easily with hand soap and water using a cotton cloth. However, the Elite OMS100H’s DynaWhite screen material is the more durable of the two. According to the company, it’s designed to withstand prolonged exposure to weather ranging from bright sunlight to rain. The OMS100H2’s CineWhite is less rugged.

Elite Screens Yard Master 2 120-inch outdoor indoor projector screen customer review

Screen Works Great

I got this screen for camping and to enjoy family and friends outdoor movie nights in the back yard. I looked at many reviews to get the one that would fit my needs best and finally ended up choosing this one for stability and design. I first tried using in the mountains at my aunt and uncles cabin with one issue. The frame was solid and sturdy. The screen was well made too as it stretched when snapping it into place and the creases pretty much disappeared for the most part and what little was left could not be seen when watching the movie.

The only problem we had was the legs would not go into the frame all the way but we managed to use it for the trip. When we returned home from the trip I immediately emailed customer support and the got back with me pretty quick. They asked for proof of purchase and serial number so they could send me the parts to remedy my situation. I did so and the following week i received the new legs and they fit perfectly. We have used again since then in the back yard and it was great. Elite screens back up their product and takes care of the customer.

Very impressed how fast they took care of the situation. All in all I believe I picked the perfect screen for my needs even though we had a slight problem at first. I would definitely buy this product again and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a sturdy screen that fits into a nice package for travel. I still give it 5 stars as now that the legs fit and customer care was so awesome I believe it to be the best screen out there right now.

Elite Screens VMAX 2 ($785)

Elite Screens Yard Master 2 outdoor indoor projector screen

Size: 135”
Aspect Ratio: 16:9
Gain: 1.1
What We Like: Elite quality with automation added.
What We Don’t: Perhaps a little too pricey for some people.

There is a full 180 degree viewing angle, and like many models in this range, it comes ready for both 4K and 3D viewing. Installation is dead simple, as it comes shipped fully assembled (so no electronics knowledge required) and you won’t have to get up to adjust it, either, as it comes with its own remote. It’s a clear choice over screens from Silver Ticket, its big competitor.

We think that right now, the best projector screen needs to be automated, easy to set up and use, and guarantee a particular level of picture quality. In our opinion, the Elite Screens VMAX 2 ticks all three boxes. For starters, not only do you get a very sizeable usable area, but you get a slightly increased aspect ratio, at 16:10.

That said, we do think the price could stand to drop a little. The Elite Screens VMAX 2 comes in multiple sizes, like most screens here, but to be honest, it’s still a little expensive for what it is. If you’re looking for a less-expensive automated screen, we’d recommend the Spectrum Electric, also from Elite Screens.

Keenstone 120-Inch 4K Projection Screen

You can use both or either side of the screen for your movie viewings thanks to the double-sided construction, and you can place the screen indoors or outdoors with excellent results in either setting. 18 mounting holes give you versatile setup options, and it even comes with ropes and 24 hooks so you have everything you need. Thanks to its lightweight material, this projector screen can easily be taken anywhere; just fold it up and carry it where it’s needed.

No matter what you’re looking for in an outdoor projector screen, the Keenstone 120-Inch 4K Projection Screen is a fantastic choice. With a budget-friendly price and many versatile options, this single screen gives you plenty of ways to use it. And that means you’ll get great value for your money. It measures 120 inches diagonally and is constructed with thick no-crease material that eliminates wrinkles when it’s stretched out flat.

Elite Screens Aeon CLR UST 100” ($1,249)

Elite Screens Aeon CLR UST

Size: 100″
Aspect Ratio: 16:9
Gain: 0.6
What We Like: One of the better ultra-short-throw screens available.
What We Don’t: Requires a really good projector.

Although the gray shade might not look great when it isn’t being used, it’s able to push back up to 65% off-angle ambient light. That means that you can get away with just closing the curtains without having to worry about stray ambient lighting sneaking in.

The Elite Screens Aeon CLR UST 100” is a screen designed for ultra-short-throw projectors – as in, ones that are directly beneath the screen. This model is one of the better ultra-short-throw (UST) screens available, despite not being quite as assured as the Screen Innovations Solo Pro 2, and costs just over a quarter of the price. It offers outstanding picture, especially in rooms which are not perfectly dark.

However, to get this effect, you will require a really good projector, which can easily double the total setup cost. Other similarly-priced screens, such as the Stewart Filmscreen Cima 135″, are a little more forgiving with low quality projectors. We still think that the Aeon CLR UST is a solid choice, especially if you have a room that isn’t ideal for projection.
