Build

As for our impressions of the build quality and design, it looks sleek and stylish, with your typical cordless design. You have the top end of the hoover that has a comfortable gun-like grip with a trigger to power the thing when you walk around. Above your hand is the motor that sucks all the air in, which then leads down to the cylinder that reaches the foot of the hoover, which is extremely flexible and robust.

Mounting

Eufy also includes some wall mounting accessories to hold all of the different attachments. Adding these makes the overall footprint of the mount bigger, so if you don’t find yourself needing them, they can be removed to save space, but it’s hand to have all of your attachments held at the same place.

Handheld and accessories

There’s the main handheld motor unit, naturally, which is accompanied by a standard, motorised floor head and an extension tube so you can use it as a regular upright vacuum cleaner. You also get a crevice nozzle and a brush tool, which doubles up as a wider brushless attachment.

Trigger button

It has a trigger button you need to hold in to keep the power on, which sounds onerous until you realise this makes it easy to ration battery life and impossible to absent-mindedly leave it running. A second button on the unit is used to control the power, which can be boosted with a single press or moved into low-power mode with a second press.

Motorized head

Smaller motorised head that’s great for cleaning the stairs, a bendy extension hose for reaching into tricky places, a wall-mount and, best of all, a second battery that doubles the amount of time you can vacuum without having to recharge. This is a motorized cleaning head that has some handy LED headlights on the front to make finding crumbs easier.

Dustbin capacity

The dust collector has a capacity of 0.65 litres and is mercifully simple to empty via a quick-release catch on top of the unit. It’s almost as simple to detach the whole bin and remove the washable filter, which makes the whole thing very easy to clean.

Battery life

Eufy promises 40 minutes of cleaning from each of the 25.2V lithium-ion batteries and the generous inclusion of a second power pack in the box doubles your potential cleaning time.

In fact, it performed better than advertised in my tests, with each battery lasting for 49 minutes in its low power mode. Switch to maximum power and you’ll only get eight minutes, but there’s a happy medium of 29 minutes from standard mode. This is better than the Vax Blade 4, which lasted seven minutes 30 seconds on full power (and only comes with one battery).

It’s lightweight, comes with numerous attachments making it ideal for cleaning the stairs, high to reach places where the cobwebs collect and even for your car. Plus, being battery powered, it means you can take it with you wherever you go. Why you’d carry a vacuum with you everywhere I don’t know, but at least it’s an option.

The vacuum does a good job of cleaning the floor but that’s pretty much it. The trigger button that you have to constantly hold down is really annoying, I put a zip tie on it just so I wouldn’t have to hold it down constantly.

It has real potential and would likely be fantastic for a animal-free home. The extra battery is a real bonus if you are trying to cover the whole house quickly. It seems to hold up well and have high quality build, but with the consistent disassembly to remove animal hair, it is just more trouble than getting out the full-sized vacuum or dealing with the broom.

I don’t hate to vacuum anymore!

I love this vacuum! To be truthful way more vacuuming happens in this house now. We have a combination of vinyl and low pile carpet. It works on both. You must use it on MAX for carpet which does kill the battery very quickly. I also prefer MID for the vinyl and rugs. We have a smaller home(1400 sq ft) and it cannot clean the whole home on one charge. That doesn’t bother me and wasn’t a deal breaker. I don’t tend to clean the whole home all at once. Hair will wrap around the vacuum head. That also doesn’t bother me since it does on my corded vacuum as well which I never want to use anymore. I got this for $99 on sale and I definitely think it was worth the price I paid.

For a good all-around cordless vacuum, Gibbons recommends the Dyson V7 Allergy vacuum with HEPA filter. Although it has only half the runtime of the V11, it’s several hundred dollars cheaper and comes with a motorized head, furniture attachment, crevice tool, and a washable HEPA filter you never have to replace. It also has two power modes: regular and max, which gives you six fade-free minutes of increased suction for tough ground-in dirt. Like the other Dyson Stick vacuums this one conveniently transforms into a handheld for small spills and tight corners. Strategist writer Tembe Denton-Hurst uses the V7 at home and loves that it can be used as both an upright vacuum cleaner and a handheld dustbuster.
