Design

Suction

Use
The Eureka NEU182A has five different height adjustment options that allow it to work well on low to medium pile carpets, plush, high pile rugs, shag rugs, and hard floors. Its smooth wheels ensure that hardwood floors won’t sustain scratches or gouges. For above-floor cleaning, attach the quick release handle to the stretch hose and pop on a vacuum tool attachment. Assembling it is also easy; snap on the quick release handle, fix the hose, and wrap the cord on.

The crevice tool, which has a narrow suction tube, worked great in tight corners and hard-to-reach areas such as baseboard edges and heating vents. We used the upholstery brush to pick up lint, hair, and other debris from our couches and chairs.
It has the has a knob on top of the base of the vacuum that you turn to swap between hard and soft floors.
We gave the PowerSpeed 10 passes on the low-pile carpet and there was still plenty of the ½ cup of flour that we spread out remaining.
With rice, the PowerSpeed performed much better on flatter carpet than fluffier carpet. It took about three passes for this vacuum to clean up all of the grains from the low-pile carpet, with only a small amount of dust and a few fragments of rice left behind.
The performance dropped a bit with a medium-pile carpet, with a noticeable amount of rice remaining even after six passes.
Noise
The PowerSpeed to be a bit on the louder side, measuring in at 76 dBa. There were louder vacuums in our lineup, but most were quieter.

You can use this vacuum in a semi-handheld configuration in conjunction with any of its attachments, including a turbo brush and a crevice tool for cleaning messes in hard-to-reach spots.
Unfortunately, this vacuum’s hose is fairly short, making it tricky to clean hard-to-reach areas in its semi-handheld configuration. Its large dustbin can also get in the way when cleaning under tables and chairs, and its mainly plastic construction doesn’t feel especially sturdy, as it squeaks while in use. Still, its strong pet hair cleaning performance and onboard HEPA filter make it an excellent option for pet owners.
