Hoover MaxLife Elite Swivel XL pet vacuum cleaner reviews

Design

This Vacuum is so easy to use and putting it together is a snap. It’s really lightweight and works on carpet, tile and hardwood. 13.3 x 13.4 x 44.8 inches, 16 pounds. It has no dust bags but only one plastic container that you can easily open with one click and you are all set for the next cleaning session. This vacuum has good suction, I like the filter system and manoeuvres easily.

Brushroll

The red brush thing does great vacuuming areas like crevices on the fireplace mantle. With the light at the front of the vacuum head, I’m able to see all of the stuff under furniture. Even when the brush head is set to a higher setting, a rug will lift off the ground and get sucked against the bottom of the brush head.

Filter

There is a washable, reusable filter assembly in the base. It had instructions printed on the top and I was thrilled that an extra filter was included. Being reusable, they should last a very long time.

Swivel

This vacuum cleaner has great swivel action and good suctioning power. Its cord is quite long, so very convenient to do very large rooms without having to switch plugs. The moment you grab the handle and start to move the unit around, you can immediately notice the swivel. It makes it easy to move the vacuum into tight quarters and it can make a difference if your floor area has lots of obstacles in the way.

Hoover MaxLife Elite Swivel XL pet vacuum cleaner Performance reviews

This vacuum has strong suction power. And that it does such a good job on carpet as well as hardwood floors (with an easy adjustment setting for both!) highly recommended!

The cleaning canister is 4 times the size of other vacuums in this range. It is easy to clean and doesn’t seem to clog like others we have tried. The vacuum works smoothly and despite being larger than we are used to, doesn’t take a lot of strength to navigate. The swivel is nicely designed and gives a lot of mobility.

It worked equally well on tile as it did on carpet. It turns on and off with a foot petal so no sticky switches on the handle. It includes basic attachments that are compact and designed to conserve space and an extra filter.

Excellent for pet owners!

Disclaimer: I was provided with a free product to provide a review. This in no way affected the outcome of my review. The Hoover High Performance Swivel XL Pet Vaccuum is packaged in a nice sturdy box filled with full colorful art and information about the product. I would like to have seen additional views of the product other than the provided front and slightly side-angled view, particularly a clear view from behind the vacuum. Opening the top of the box you will find e instructions sheet tucked under a nicely printed Thank You note from Hoover.

The product is well packaged for protection but is not difficult to remove from the box. The attachments are tucked into side areas with the vacuum in the center. The cardboard pieces separating the packaging sections lifts out easily without stuggle and the vacuum unit is then free to be easily lifted from the box.

Assembly was a breeze. The handle simple slips into place with a push-pin style locking mechanism. There is a place for each attachment on the vacuum body for easy storage and access to the attachments. My only complaint with my initial visual inspection is that the hose from the vacuum to the dirt canister appears longer than it needs to be and gets in the way a little when winding the cord onto the unit.

After using in my main living area, where we have carpet and a large area rug that the dog and cat hair clings to, the Hoover High Performance Swivel XL Pet Vaccuum did an extremely good job in picking up the pet hair from the rug if I used the Low Carpet setting. The medium setting was picking it up but was requiem good several passes over the same area. In comparison, our past two vacuum cleaners have been much higher retail priced Dyson brand vacuums and those require several passes on the rug to pick up the hair.

This has been my number one complaint when vacuuming over the past couple of years but this Hoover seems to grab the hair much easier. The pet hair attachment is similar in nature to other pet hair removers we have in our Home, but with the added benefit of being a vacuum attachment. It’s rubber “blades” helps scrape the pet hair for easy removal. This attachment worked wonderful on our couch, which tends to show pet hair pretty easily.

The other attachment has brush like fibers all the way around it and has a swivel design making it perfect to clean dust from ceiling fan blades. Finally, the long, narrowing tipped crevice tool makes cleaning between the couch cushions and the small area between the bottom of the couch and floor a breeze. I can’t wait to use that attachment when detailing the car!

Overall, I would definitely recommend the Hoover High Performance Swivel XL Pet Vaccuum to anyone with pets. I can not speak to its longevity or how well it’s suction over time, but I am impressed with its out of the box performance with pet hair that I’ve experienced trouble cleaning with my much more expensive (albeit much older) vacuums.

Shark Navigator Freestyle Premium Cordless Vacuum

This budget-friendly Shark Navigator Freestyle weighs just 7.5 pounds, has an extra-large, .64-gallon dustbin, works well on both carpet and bare floors and is fully equipped to handle pet hair. Swivel steering helps it maneuver around furniture, and it features a powerful rotating brush that lifts embedded pet hair from rugs and carpet. A full charge can last up to 24 minutes on the bare floor setting, and the carpet setting can vary, depending on the carpet type, but the manufacturer’s site says 17 minutes is the average. Its narrow footprint makes it easy to store and charge in a closet or laundry room. The main downside to this model is that it doesn’t come with attachments or convert into a handheld, so corners and spots, like under the sofa, can be hard to reach, meaning you’d need to use this in conjunction with a broom or duster to do a thorough cleaning.

 Dyson V15 Detect

The Dyson V15 Detect is the best vacuum for pet hair that we’ve tested. This cordless stick vacuum can suck up pet hair without much of an issue, even on low and high-pile carpets. The brushrolls for its main vacuum head, secondary bare floor head, and turbo brush are easily removable, allowing you to clear any tangled hair wraps. Thanks to its washable allergen-trapping HEPA filter and bagless design, recurring costs shouldn’t be a major concern.

This vacuum’s lightweight construction makes it simple to maneuver. Its use of easy-clip mechanisms allows you to quickly attach any one of the wide variety of included tools or reconfigure it into a handheld vacuum for cleaning shelves, countertops, and furniture. Its battery performance is good overall, and you can expect a maximum of roughly 70 minutes of runtime, though this can vary in the real world. The LED display on top of the vacuum provides you with a rough estimate of the remaining battery life and an estimate of the size and number of particles it picks up.

Unfortunately, this vacuum doesn’t feel particularly sturdy, especially its clear plastic dirt compartment, which could break if you drop it. Its strong suction force can also cause it to get caught on rug tassels and pull some lighter rugs around. There are also quite a few parts that need regular cleaning. Still, if you’re looking for a cordless vacuum that can handle pet hair, this is an excellent option.
