Leviton EV480 review
Design
The Leviton EV480 has a boxy shape. The enclosure (excluding cord) weighs roughly 2 lbs. and fits easily in the palm of your hand. The NEMA 6-30R receptacle that is built into this unit complies with the code requirements for installations where it will be hardwired.
Leviton EV480 Cable length
The charging wire for the Leviton EV320 is 18 feet long. Since an EV charger typically has approximately 25 feet of wire accessible, that is definitely on the shorter side of things. You might want to consider extending it for a few unique circumstances. You cannot swap out the wire for a longer or shorter one because this is a tethered charger.
Charging indicator
There is no display, but in the middle, there is charging indicator. Blue light indicates steady state or standby mode. You will notice a steady green light when the connector is joined to the EV charger inlet. A flashing green light means your car has started to charge. If you notice a red light, then it is indicating there is error.
Plug
The 3R type NEMA plug on the Leviton EV480 is water-resistant, and its cable is made to resist freezing and cracking during extreme weather conditions. It may be installed both indoors and outdoors.
Charging
With an industry standard SAE J1772 cable, the Leviton EV480 EV charger can charge any EV, including Audi, BMW, Ford, Honda, Subaru, and even Tesla with a Tesla-supplied adapter
Charging speed
In comparison to a Level 1 charger, which can offer only two to four miles of range each hour of charge, a Leviton Level 2 charger can add up to 20 miles of range per hour. For this reason, if you possess a Tesla vehicle, we advise installing a Level 2 charger. You will be able to charge your automobile as rapidly as possible and will have the greatest home charging experience.
Leviton EV480 Setup
Leviton advises using an EV tester. These gadgets ensure that the Leviton EV Series charger runs dependably and offers a smooth charging experience after professional installation. They allow experts to evaluate the charger’s capacity to connect to Wi-Fi networks, maintain a dependable connection, and communicate with external systems or mobile applications through the simulation of a vehicle connection.

ChargePoint Home Flex EV charger
It’s hardly surprising if the ChargePoint name seems familiar. ChargePoint manages a significant nationwide network of both free and paid public charging stations through its user-friendly software. The company intends to invest $1 billion over the following ten years in extending the number of charging stations across the US. Therefore, it is not surprising that the company has developed a home charging gadget using that brand recognition.
The HomeFlex charger is available in two versions for use with NEMA 6-50 or NEMA 14-50 outlets and may be programmed to use a charging current between 16 amps and 50 amps depending on the capabilities of your home circuit. The 23-foot cable should be adequate for the majority of installs in households.
The ChargePoint app allows you to keep track of all your charging sessions, whether at home and on the go. You may set up routines to charge your household appliances as cheaply as possible. The software features voice control for Alexa.
