How fast does MAX GREEN EV Charger charge?
On average it takes just under eight hours to charge an electric vehicle’s battery from empty to full, but the speeds are getting faster as battery technology progresses. EVs that charge on a DC fast charger while on the road can typically recoup 80% battery power in under an hour (some in 30 minutes), depending on the vehicle. However, most electric vehicle drivers will continuously top off the charge rather than drive it to empty.
MAX GREEN EV Charger customer review
Great level 1 charger, level 2 has issues
*Update 2* Max Green Tech was kind enough to send me a replacement charger to try again. Unfortunately, my issue is still the same. On my 2015 Chevy Volt, the charger will stop charging my car at around 61% when charging from empty. A red light will flash quickly 2 times indicating there is an AC current issue. I have had multiple electricians check my dedicated car charging circuit, which was recently installed, and there are no issues to speak of. I have tested the outlet with 2 other chargers and they do not have any issues. Because this product is sold as a level 1 and 2 charger, and level 2 does not consistently work, I have to provide the 1 star rating for it.
However, The charger works excellent as a level 1 charger on my car and the included accessories like the carrying case and NEMA 5 to NEMA 6 adapter are excellent quality and the charger itself feels very solid and has a good build quality. Support also was very eager to assist as much as they could and did everything in their power to make things right, so kudos on that. *UPDATE* This charger exceeded my expectations as a level 1 charger. I got excited and had a NEMA 6-20 outlet professionally installed and was excited to use this charger as a level 2 charger.
BUT on the very first level 2 charge, the charger quit charging 3 different times during one charge. The red light flashed quickly 2 times indicating an “AC Current Fault”. Had another electrician come out and check the first electricians work and everything was done correctly. I tried the charger 6 more times, and every time the same fault error occurred. Eventually, my Chevy Volt even started showing the check engine light stating “there is a problem with the onboard charging system” using this charger. I ended up ordering another brand of charger and immediately charging worked perfectly with out any issue on the other brand. The check engine light also went away once I charged with the charger I ordered to replace the MaxGreen one.
Side note, this charger has a card in the box to leave a review, take a survey and send a screenshot of the review to them to get a mount for the cable and charger connector to the car. I followed the directions exactly but never got any mount or any confirmation that one was coming. That was almost a month ago. Kinda starting to think it is a scam to get information out of me. I sent an email for help, also no response. Very skimpy and suspicious company website.
*Original Review for reference* I got this for my 2015 Chevy Volt. I was happy to see the level 1 charging capabilities support 12 amp charging! The build quality is WAAAY better than the volts included level one charger and I am currently in the process of getting a NEMA 6-20 outlet installed to take advantage of the level 2 charging. Highly recommend this super affordable charger.
