Philips computer monitors 276E8VJSB 27 monitor 4K UHD IPS review

Build

It employs a minimalist design composed of thin proportions with a matte black and gunmetal color scheme. The monitor is bezel-free but reasonably thin panel borders will still be present when the device is in use.

Stand

It features a curved stand that provides more stable support. It also presents a thin screen with such small borders that they have even had to install the name of the brand outside the monitor.

Design

Being a 27-inch monitor with an aspect ratio of 16: 9, it is a relatively compact product, measuring 18.9 x 62 x 47 centimeters and weighing 4.8 kilograms. There is also a transparent tag-style Philips logo in the centre of the bottom bezel, hanging down ~10mm (0.39 inches) beneath the bottom bezel.

Ports

Connectivity options include two HDMI 2.0 ports, a single DisplayPort 1.2 input, and a headphones jack. The monitor supports HDCP 2.2, meaning that you can watch copy-protected content from streaming services such as Netflix in the native 4K UHD resolution.

Display

4K UHD resolution on a 27″ screen of the Philips 276E8VJSB results in a pixel density of 163 PPI i.e., pixels per inch. This makes for plenty of screen space as well as amazing detail clarity.

The colors are accurate, consistent, and vibrant, as expected from a 4K IPS monitor. Further, the 178-degree wide viewing angles ensure that the image won’t shift in color, contrast, or brightness when you look at the screen at an angle.

Resolution

The Philips 276E8VJSB sports a 27-inch IPS panel with a 3840 x 2160 native resolution, 60Hz refresh rate, and 4ms minimum response time. The backlight in this model goes up to 350cd/m2 along with a contrast ratio that is rated at 1000:1 just like most monitors in the market.

Brightness

The 350-nit luminance is more than enough for a comfortable viewing experience, even in well-lit rooms. Other panel-related specifications include a 350-nit peak brightness and a 1,000:1 static contrast ratio, which is standard for an IPS display at this price range.

Image quality

The Philips 276E8VJSB monitor is based on an IPS panel with dithered 10-bit color depth (8-bit + 2-bit FRC) and ~109% sRGB color gamut. The slightly extended sRGB gamut provides you with more saturated colors (not over-saturated, which is good), which makes them look more lifelike.

HDR – Philips computer monitors 276E8VJSB 27 monitor 4K UHD IPS

We measured the HDR Peak Brightness with the ‘VESA HDR1000’ HDR mode. When the monitor is first turned on or the HDR mode is changed, the peak brightness of the ‘UHDA’ and ‘VESA HDR1000’ HDR modes is initially much higher, between 1019 and 1100 cd/m². After 2 minutes, the brightness drops off to the posted numbers, and the monitor will never go back to that brightness unless you turn the monitor off or change HDR modes. We’re only showing the lower numbers here because the monitor isn’t usable for any length of time at the higher brightness.

The ‘Normal’ HDR mode doesn’t do this, and remains at a constant brightness, slightly lower than the other two modes.

Refresh rate

Naturally, being locked to 60Hz/FPS (Frames Per Second) will repulse most PC gamers, especially those who prefer fast-paced games, as they can opt for a lower-resolution/higher refresh rate display at this price range instead.

FreeSync would’ve also been quite useful for the Xbox One X, but since most of the console games are locked to 30FPS, and the VRR range of most 4K FreeSync monitors starts from 40FPS anyway, it’s not a big loss.

Performance review

The slightly extended sRGB gamut provides you with more saturated colors (not over-saturated, which is good), which makes them look more lifelike. The Philips 276E8VJSB monitor is based on an IPS panel with dithered 10-bit color depth (8-bit + 2-bit FRC) and ~109% sRGB color gamut.

Philips computer monitors 276E8VJSB 27 monitor 4K UHD IPS customer review

Great value

Out of all the 4K monitors this one is at a very low price point and has the brand recognition. I had a 1920 p 32 inch curved monitor and it seemed too big for my desk. Plus everything looked granny. Once I went 4K Everything is smooth and I can appreciate the space.

I use this monitor for work and I split the screen in two. Each screen is at 90 to 100 percent in size. It works fine for me. I have it connected to my work laptop so I can use a 3rd window. But it is rare.

One thing to remember is that when you mirror your laptop screen to the monitor, it looks like garbage. You will need to make the adjustments from your LAPTOP and pick the correct settings on your monitor. Choose monitor 2.
I wish it upscale automatically but it didn’t. Not the monitor’s fault but it’s how windows laptops is set up.
I have a surface pro as well and I used the usb c adaptor to hdmi and same. It looked pixelated and once I made the adjustments in the surface pro voala!

In conclusion, if you’re not happy how it looks. 1st make the adjustments on your laptop then you will appreciate the 4 K. The size is perfect for a small desk and you want to split the screen in two. And the price point is just right compared to what’s out there.
