Roborock S7 reviews

Build & Design

As far as robot vacuums go, the Roborock S7 models are pretty huge at 13.9 inches by 13.8 inches in size and 3.8 inches tall. The Lidar sensor is hidden by a raised disc in the center that bears the Roborock logo. Near the front are silver buttons for docking, power/start cleaning, and spot cleaning. The onboard water tank may be opened with a bright orange button at the back.

Accessories

Under the thin plastic cover, there is a trashcan and an indication light for Wi-Fi. The trash can is simple to empty and clean under running water. It is entirely independent of the water tank.

Brush

The roller brush on the Roborock S7 has a flexible housing that enables it to move up and down as it comes into contact with various floor surfaces. Roombas have a comparable function.

Sensor

It employs a LIDAR sensor on top to roam inside your home and detect walls. Additionally, the front wheel has an ultrasonic sensor to the left of it that aids in determining whether it is on carpet or hard surfaces.

Charging base

The S7 Plus is the first Roborock vacuum to feature an auto-empty dock in addition to its superior mopping abilities. In order to save you the trouble of doing it yourself, this charging station suctions the dirt out of the robot’s trash can when it has finished cleaning. Additionally, since the S7 can recharge and empty its bin in one motion before continuing its cleaning cycle, it allows it to clean for longer.

Dust bags & tanks

The base’s dust bag is simple to install and remove by simply pulling it up. It can store dust for up to 120 days before needing replacement, and when removed, it seals itself shut to stop dust from spreading.

These may be purchased on Amazon(opens in new tab) for as little as $20.99. According to Roborock, its 470 ml dust canister and 300 ml water tank are sufficient to clean an area up to 200 sq m. (2150 sqft).

Roborock S7 Cleaning

The Roborock S7’s capability to automatically recognize carpet and increase suction in response is one of its key features. On hardwood, the Roborock S7 successfully collected 96.8% of the scattered Cheerios. That is only one point lower than the S6 MaxV and almost identical to the S4 Max’s performance on the same task. However, during our testing on the hardwood floors, the S7 turned over and smashed a number of Cheerios, creating a bigger mess that it then had to clean up.

Mopping in Roborock S7

While carpet is recognized or when the bot is approaching the dock, the mop component automatically rises 5 millimeters (0.197 inches) to the top. The fact that it actually functioned consistently pleased me more than the fact that the firm called it VibraRise technology. The S7 contains a sonic mopping technology by Roborock that features a removable half-moon-shaped mopping plate and washable microfiber pad to provide several scrub levels.

Roborock App

You have the option of Deep Mopping or Standard Mopping in the Roborock app, which simultaneously vacuums and mop floors. When deep mopping, the S7 will follow a more precise path and twice go over the designated area. Other than the vacuum not operating, I didn’t observe a significant difference in cleaning between the two settings. You can select your favorite “Scrub Intensity” in both modes. Close, Moderate, Intense, or Strong. As I changed the cleaning choices, I could see and hear the difference in the mop’s vibration.

The sonic vibrations occur between 1,650 to 3,000 times each minute, according to Roborock. The Ecovacs-sold vibrating mopping attachment for the Deebot Ozmo T8 oscillates at 480 times per minute and doesn’t elevate its pad in contrast.

Battery life

My 890 square foot carpet-heavy house can be cleaned using the S7’s 5200mAh battery in one pass and still have 26% of the charge left. Roborock automatically activates Carpet Boost, which means the vacuum is operating at maximum capacity practically constantly. Battery life improved slightly by turning off the feature, averaging 40% every cleaning cycle. Despite this, my S7’s battery life falls short of the 3-hour mark.

iLife Shinebot W400

The iLife Shinebot W400 is one of the top robot mops available since it balances performance and cost perfectly. We were surprised by how much filth the mop cleaned from our floors despite the fact that it only utilizes regular tap water to clean your floors. Better yet, we could see just how much grime was eliminated because to the separate onboard clean and dirty water tanks. The Shinebot W400’s mopping prowess is owing to the double power of a reusable microfiber brush roll that scrubs filth away and a rubber scraper squeegee that helps remove dirty water and other debris.

In our tests, the Shinebot W400 was a well-behaved robot mop, never straying onto even the thinnest rug. The W400 can be operated without an app by using a remote control or the buttons on the bot itself. Choose one of the following four cleaning techniques: area, path, spot, or edge.

Although this mopping-only bot performs well in terms of cleaning, at 4.6 inches high, it may be too tall to go beneath kitchen cupboards. When this robotic mop is finished, your cleaning task will start. iLife advises washing the dirty-water tank, the microfiber brush roll, the scraper, and the filter under running water after each usage. The parts must then be exposed to air to dry. Although it takes some effort, the Shinebot W400 effectively mop floors.
