Build

The Shark Matrix Robot seems more durable than this hoover, but the Shark Matrix Robot has a more upscale, albeit unremarkable, appearance due to its matte-finish hard plastic shell. The’self-cleaning’ brushroll design is employed.

Design

When tested against comparable auto-empty docking stations, it measures 14 inches high and 19 inches deep, so it’s not too huge.

Filter

In spite of not having an internal HEPA filter, the Shark AI Ultra performs well in terms of air filtering. Even better, the manufacturer claims that the base station’s allergen-trapping post-motor filter can capture 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns.

Brushroll

The Shark AI has a self-cleaning brush roll on the bottom in addition to two side brushes. The brush roll’s fins and bristles work together to comb through both human and pet hair, collecting it in the trash to prevent it from getting tangled, a typical issue with other robot vacuums.

Dart compartment

There is a clear plastic window on the outside dust bin that lets you see how full it is approximately. The docking station’s real capacity is less than what the manufacturer promises it can hold for thirty days’ worth of cleaning sessions. All except the lightest particles can fall back out when it fills up.

To empty the dustbin after it is full, just press the button on top of the base, slide the dustbin out, place it over a garbage can or a bag, and press the side Empty button. The dustbin’s bottom opens, revealing its contents in the rubbish. There is not much dirt in the procedure.

Shark AV2501S AI ultra robot vacuum with matrix clean Suction

Three power levels are available to the Shark AI: Eco, Normal (the default setting), and Max. Max, as its name implies, has the strongest suction, but it also depletes the robot’s battery the quickest. Eco has the lowest suction power but the slowest battery depletion.Additionally, a new UltraClean mode for single rooms, high-traffic areas, and spot cleaning is provided by the Shark AI.

When the robot is in UltraClean mode, its suction power is increased and it does a crosshatch vacuuming of the selected room or area twice. This technique works particularly well for carpet and pet hair cleaning. The Shark IQ does not have it.

Cleaning

Not to mention, the Shark’s container wiggles while scrubbing the floor and dispenses precisely the right amount of cleaning solution. You may see the squiggly pattern on the floor as it mops if you use the UltraMop option in the app for spot cleaning. Much of the debris was visible on the microfiber cleaning pad, which was simple to slip on and off the bin.

Mopping

One of my main complaints with robot mop heads is the cleaning pad. Using a reusable cleaning pad is undoubtedly more environmentally friendly than using many wipes for every Swiffering. Shark comes with two interchangeable parts. They cleaned surprisingly well when I washed them by hand in the sink with little dish soap when I was unable to put them in the washing machine.

Battery life

The performance of the battery is excellent. It has a duration of about ninety minutes on its high-suction ‘Max’ setting, which is more than adequate, even for cleaning up tough messes. Its runtime is nearly three hours when using the more energy-efficient ‘Eco’ suction power level.

It’s important to note, though, that the hoover always starts with the ‘Normal’ suction power option, which can be a little unpleasant when you have to manually select ‘Eco’ or ‘Max’ at the beginning of each cleaning session. It also takes this hoover four hours to fully recharge, which is a considerable amount of time.

Shark AV2501S AI ultra robot vacuum with matrix clean Apps

The well-designed SharkClean app makes it simple to operate the robot and take use of its many intelligent functions, like as scheduling, virtual no-go zones, area cleaning, and cleaning history reports. Simply download the SharkClean app and register to get started. Next, click Add a Robot. The software will then lead you through the setup procedure while you follow the on-screen instructions.

The robot is in setup mode, and the app tells you to hold down the Dock and Clean buttons simultaneously until the unit’s Wi-Fi indicator light starts to flicker. When prompted, click OK to let Shark connect to other devices on your local network. Next, choose your Wi-Fi network at home from the list, type in your password, and click the Proceed button.

The SharkClean application is average. It’s a little glitchy and laggy, sometimes reporting the wrong status information on the app. For the hoover to connect, a 2.4 GHz network is required. Additionally, albeit not always for certain rooms, the app lets you plan cleaning periods, configure different cleaning modes, and check the battery life. Additionally, you can establish no-go zones to keep it from going into particular places or navigating around fragile things, as well as review the history of cleaning sessions.

Shark AV2501S AI ultra robot vacuum with matrix clean Performance review

Performance-wise, the Shark AI Ultra is mediocre on low-pile carpet. Both small particles like baking soda and bigger detritus like sand are difficult for it to handle. Bare floors are superbly cleaned by the Shark AI Ultra. It easily removes most larger waste, like cereal, and little debris like grains, though it might need to make a second pass to get rid of everything.

Noise

Even more noisy is the Shark AI. I took readings with the NIOSH Sound Level Metre app in the same room as the robot while it was cleaning, and it functions at about 60 dB over hard flooring and 55 dB over carpeting when in Normal mode. The CDC states that 60dB is roughly equivalent to the volume of a typical conversation or air conditioner.

Maintenance

It’s incredibly simple to stow the Shark AI Ultra Robot Self Empty XL. When compared to a typical low-profile docking station, the vacuum’s docking station does require a significant amount of additional area. Still, it’s fairly small overall, and it fits neatly into a space between pieces of furniture.

Daily Choices

I freely love my dog again now that David Wallace is on the scene! DW is the name of my fabulous new Shark robot vacuum. Getting the app and the vac to sync due to my backwater Internet was the hardest thing about setup, and even that didn’t take too long. Since then, I open the app at work and send David Wallace on cleaning missions. I make sure the dog toys are put away on my way through the house when i leave for the day, so I run him through the living room first thing. I could never keep up with the dog hair problem until now! I love this. Matrix clean even allows me and my OCD to witness the cleaning, though i prefer not to. I’m so glad I opened that Best Buy email advertising a sale (on another brand’s vac). I used the compare feature and am so very happy with this purchase. With such clean floors, I’m probably going to be doing a lot more yoga. Or eat the odd M&M that may fall to the floor. It’s about the choices we make every day.

Shark AV2501S AI ultra robot vacuum with matrix clean alternative

The improved AI-driven computer vision of the Roomba j7 series, which enables it to recognise and navigate around objects, is its primary selling feature. This includes pet faeces, which is the worst enemy of a robot vacuum. In fact, iRobot guarantees pet owners that if their J7 machine encounters pet poop during the first year of ownership, it will replace it.

That is one characteristic. Since my cat confined all of her activities to her litter box, I was relieved that I never had the chance to test this Roomba during my evaluation. Apart from that, the Roomba j7 performed a decent job of collecting dirt and trash in my apartment and didn’t create too much noise in the process. The suction levels of all the robo-vacs I tested at this mid-range level were quite similar, so there wasn’t much of a difference in terms of cleaning power.

Similar to other robot vacuums, the iRobot mobile app allows you to plan cleanings so you never have to start a task at random. Additionally, the app features a “favourites” section where you may make regular profiles like “clean the living room and the entryway.” Additionally, the robot is compatible with Google Assistant and Amazon’s Alexa if you prefer to use voice instructions.

The Roomba j7 features Imprint Smart Mapping, but it required multiple runs across my house to generate a comprehensive map, in contrast to the Shark. Make sure you select the “mapping run” option the first few times you run the machine so the iRobot app can tell the difference between a typical cleaning task and one.

I was treated to the booming noises of the machine emptying its garbage into its base because I tested the J7+. The base actually pulls the dirt from the vacuum, so emptying isn’t as easy as an automatically opening flat that rattles dirt from one trash can to another.

This was true of every machine I tested that had a self-emptying base; they’re all fairly noisy, but the Roomba j7+ was the most noisy. Even though the whooshing noises barely persist for five to ten seconds, the first time they occurred was startling. Remember that the next time you decide to use your self-emptying robot hoover at night while everyone else is asleep.
