Echo Show 15 Recipe widgets

By default, it’ll provide recipe suggestions, Alexa tips, trending topics, common order suggestions, notifications from Alexa services, and more. Thankfully, you may turn (nearly) all of that off by digging into the setting. Ask it for a recipe, and it’s going to pull up a bunch of alternatives for anything you’re looking to cook. It will then offer you a listing of ingredients and step-through-step directions.

Picture-in-picture

One of the best features of the Echo Show 15 is the ability to view your security cameras on it. If someone rings your doorbell, you can ask Alexa to show you the front door. You could keep an eye on a newborn while you’re in the kitchen cooking dinner. But what makes this feature even better is the fact that you can use picture-in-picture.

Video call

Currently, you can make voice and video calls using Alexa, Skype, and even Zoom. If the person you want to call is in your contacts list, you can use the Echo Show’s camera to make video calls to other Echo Show owners. Even it allows you to make call from someone’s smartphone if phone owner installed Alexa app.

3 easy steps to make a video call –

Step 1: Swipe the right side of the display towards the left to open the Echo Show feature menu. On the menu that appears, click communicate.

Step 2: Click ‘Show contacts’ to see your contact list. Scroll to find the contact for the person you’re looking to reach and select their name.

Step 3: Click the call icon under the ‘Alexa devices’ menu on the contact’s information page. This will initiate a video call.

Home security

It comes with microphone and speakers. This skill works with video doorbells and security cameras from Arlo, Blink, Ring, Nest, and more.

Baby monitor

Alexa’s Drop-In feature lets you instantly start viewing a live feed from another Echo Show. By placing it in your child’s room, you could pop in, virtually, to make sure everything is OK. Just make sure that the kid’s Echo Show is set so that only you can use Drop In.

Sing with your Echo Show 15

The Echo Show can be your personal karaoke machine. Ask Alexa to start playing a song, and as the tune cranks out of the Show’s stereo speakers, the lyrics will be displayed on its screen. It also works when playing audiobooks, too.

Choose your workout

If you say “Alexa, show me workout videos,” it will bring up a list of exercise videos it finds across YouTube, Tubi, and other sites; you can also use the browser to search for specific trainers.

Setup

Setup is pretty straightforward. You plug in the Echo, connect the app, log in with your Amazon account and choose a few options, then you’re good to go. But the Echo Show 15 is a tiny bit more involved due to the nature of the device.

Echo Show 15 Performance review

The screen itself is of a high enough resolution to look good, it’s nice and vibrant, adjusting to the brightness of the room and going to sleep when there’s no one there. At this size, it’s awesome to call up TV shows from the likes of Amazon Video, Netflix or YouTube.

When looking video content material the audio system aren’t so bad – they’re obviously optimised for speech over song or dynamic content material. Watching video content material is awesome.

There’s also often a delay when using the new picture-in-picture feature that lets you view any compatible security cameras (Ring and Blink are both supported).
