Withings Body Cardio – Premium Wi-Fi body composition smart scale review

Build

It has four weight sensors for precise readings, is available in black and white, and has a striped pattern. The tempered glass top and aluminum base of the Withings Body Cardio scale make it svelte, light, and durable. High-strength tempered glass makes up the front face, which is surrounded by a black body. The scales appear to be a solid black square at first view, yet the glass plate has a faint pattern.

Design

The scale is 12.8 x 12.8 x 0.7 inches in size. With a weight of 2.6kg, it is notably heavier than comparable smart scales. Instead of the base, the power button is located on one of the scale’s sides. The scale features a kind of two-layer design with a flat aluminum base rather than feet underneath.

Display

It reports measures in increments of 0.1kg (0.2lb), which makes it slightly less accurate than a scale like the Withings Body+, which records values down to the 0.1lb. Readings are simple to observe on the 2.4 x 1.6-inch high contrast LCD panel.

Charging

The Body Cardio scale charges using a micro USB port on the side, unlike the majority of smart scales that require three or four AA batteries. Once plugged in, the screen shows the current state of the charging process. Despite being an uncommon decision, we appreciate it because it will result in less waste from used batteries.

How does Withings Body Cardio – Premium Wi-Fi body composition smart scale work?

The scales get this information by passing a low-amplitude electrical current through your body and measuring the resistance it encounters. Your body’s impedance is calculated using the voltage drop between your right and left foot, which yields a figure for your body’s fat-free mass. The Pulse Wave Velocity function was enabled in early 2019—the last user-focused upgrade before 2021. Despite this, Withings published a software update in May that included a completely new feature: measurements of vascular age.

Health apps

All of this information is wirelessly transferred to the Withings Health Mate app on your phone through Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, where it can be viewed alongside workout information and step counts acquired by independent apps like Google Fit, Samsung Health, and Apple Health.

The app gathers all this information for you, explains what it all means in detail, and offers useful recommendations for lifestyle adjustments you may make to raise your statistics.

How to connect Withings Body Cardio with health apps?

Using the Health Mate app, pairing your Withings Body Cardio scale with your phone is a straightforward process. Prior to having the choice to connect the scale to your Wi-Fi network, you will first be asked to pair the two devices using Bluetooth.

The scale can track data for up to eight users, making it a good choice for larger households (the Salter Mibody Digital Analyser, by contrast, can only track up to four people). If it’s unable to sync wirelessly straight away (via either Bluetooth or Wi-Fi) it can store up to 16 readings.

How accurate is Withings Body Cardio?

Bioelectric impedance analysis, which is typical for body composition scales, is used by the Body Cardio smart scale. This specific type offers an extremely precise analysis and a “patent pending body position detector.”

You’ll be able to see how many weigh-ins are left to complete each time you walk on. It takes five weigh-ins to collect enough information to determine your pulse wave velocity. Your ideal pulse wave velocity is influenced by your age, and the app will let you know if your findings fall within the range recommended for your age group.

Your arteries may be failing faster than they should and you may be at risk of developing hypertension if your pulse wave velocity is unusually high. Your heart and blood arteries are healthy if the velocity slows down.

The scale will instantly identify you after you step on it using your biometric information, and it will also display your name to validate it. Each time you weigh in, the data you’ve decided to see will then be cycled through.

Withings Body Cardio – Premium Wi-Fi body composition smart scale performance review

After removing the scale from the packaging, you should connect the accompanying USB to charge it if necessary. Install the Healthmate app by following the on-screen instructions. The entire procedure is outlined in an understandable step-by-step fashion.

When setting up, you can select your preferred units for showing your metrics (such as pounds, stones, or kilograms) and how you want to see measurements of your body composition displayed, such as in percentages or total weight measurements.

Resting heart rates of 60 to 100 are regarded as healthy, while lower rates in the 50s and 60s can signify improved cardiovascular and physical fitness. Following the start of a new healthy lifestyle habit, such as exercise, your heart rate may trend downward, which is a sign that you are probably improving your health.

Athlete mode

Anyone who regularly exercises and has more lean body mass than the average person needs athlete mode. Without the option to select athlete mode, all body composition reporting will be largely inaccurate because the wrong algorithm would be applied.

Pregnancy mode

To make weighing safe, the bio-electric impedance feature is disabled in pregnancy and baby mode. The baby mode enables users to weigh themselves while holding their child, and after two measures, it calculates the baby’s weight by deducting your own (with and without baby). A baby profile that records the infant’s weight and tracks growth over time can be made.

Withings Body Cardio – Premium Wi-Fi body composition smart scale customer review

Great digital scale but it’s specs have changed

I originally purchased this scale for one main feature. The Pulse Wave Velocity feature. When I first received the device that feature was on and working. A couple of weeks ago I received an email from Nokia saying that after further testing that the PWV reading wasn’t reliable so they removed it. While this is disappointing it’s not a game changer for me now that I have used the scale for a while. Overall this is an excellent scale. It’s very accurate and gives a ton of information to the user, including WEATHER! The best part of this is that it just send the info to the app without having to open the app itself. It just works. If you’re looking for a great scale with a ton of cool features and an excellent iOS app then this is a great buy.

Alternate of Withings Body Cardio – Premium Wi-Fi body composition smart scale

Eufy Smart Scale P1

Specs
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth
  • Size: 11 x 11 x 0.9 inches
  • Android/iOS: Yes/Yes
  • Max Users: 16
  • Stats: Weight, BMI, BMR, body fat percentage
  • Max Weight: 397 pounds
  • MyFitnessPal Compatible: No
  • Batteries: 3 AAA
Pros
  • Seamless connectivity
  • Easy-to-use app
  • 14 body metric measurements
  • 16 user profiles
Cons
  • No pregnancy mode
  • No athlete mode
  • No Wi-Fi connectivity

Your weight is displayed on-screen very immediately via Eufy’s Bluetooth scale, which connects to the EufyLife app on iOS and Android without any difficulty. It was one of the top smart scales and did the weigh-in perfectly. The BodySense scale then syncs that value to the app along with a variety of other parameters. These additional data include your BMI, the proportion of your body fat that is made up of water, and the percentages of your weight that come from muscle, bone, and body fat mass.

The Eufy P1 Smart Scale’s absence of pregnant and athlete modes, which provide better readings based on your body composition, is its drawback. You might not want to use this scale if you’re truly into sports like weightlifting because the chances are that your readings will be slightly wrong.

The Eufy Smart Scale P1 is a good option for anyone who does not need athletic mode despite this. It is reasonably priced, very user-friendly, and offers extra data in the app in addition to all the essential information you require.
